Off Topic Looking for a new 22 lr

the Ruger SR22 is pretty sweet. I also really like the 22/45. I think those two are on top of my list for .22 autos

Ruger mk what ever is first choice. Then Beretta Neos , the Walther P22, Sig mosquito but put 500 rounds through it to smooth it out.

Unless it is going to be a lifetime gun. If it is S&W 41.

In my opinion none of the semi auto 22s are to heavy for woods work and long carry unless you go with a long barrel. My Ruger mk1 target has been on every hiking trip I've taken since i was 21and not once did I even think about the weight.

I have no experience with the buck mark or woodman.

+ 1 for the Ruger 22/45 lite. Carry it all day and forget you have it. The Sr22's I have shot have been nice little guns. I have had a Ruger MKI liberty that was my first pistol, still around and running strong.I have a NIB Bearcat that will be my daughters first handgun when the time comes. I really enjoy my Ruger super single six as well. I shoot a good bit of 22wmr and like having the interchangeable cylinders. I can always throw a box of mag and the cylinder in my pack when woods tramping for the occasional longer shot or larger end of the small game spectrum. I have ventured away from Ruger over the years for 22's but other than a few S&W revolvers, nothing has held my interest long enough to become parts of the permanent collection.

Thanks mate, that S&W has been ridden hard and not loved at all, it had two owners from new before me and both put 1000s of rounds through it (they bought their .22 in 10K lots). It would a bit hit and miss for function when I got it but after some playing I replaced the slide stop/ejector and it is back to 100%, and STILL shoots better then I or any other 10 men can..!!! I have some nice flat grips that make it more holster friendly but I don't yet have an appropriate grip screw to fit 'em up.

My other .22 handgun is a Colt Officers Model Match and it is also well used but still more accurate than I will ever be..!!

Definitely the Browning 1911-22. Of all my 22's that had to be my favorite and the one that gets the most trigger time.
It is very well built and completely designed from scratch by Browning around the 22LR cartridge. For a plinking Gun with combat sights it is incredibly accurate. I'd you like 1911's you'll really appreciate this little guy.

Don't overlook the Buckmark. The Rugers are nice; however, the Buckmark is cheaper, more reliable, and more accurate than MOST Rugers. This is just my opinion based on years of experience shooting both.

That just made the top of my Christmas list. Awesome.

The handy thing with the original factory silenced Rugers is their size and balance. Much more manageable and carryable than the longer after market versions. Using Eley subsonics they are as quiet as a whisper. The Mark I's have fixed sights and these have become very expensive.

The Mk II has adjustable sights and if using it for living off the land you can run faster ammo and adjust the sights for a flatter trajectory when taking rabbits etc. The extra noise of the supersonic "crack" is worth it for the flatter trajectory when shooting game for the pot.

The subsonic ammo is also useful for closer work such as military applications or home defence.

Keep a Benneli by the side of the bed if you need to sweep the house by all means - but having used pistols in cars and indoors ... you can't beat a silenced .22. Shooting across people in any close proximity definitely needs either googles and plugs or a silenced weapon. Hearing and sight damage is a real risk.

The other handy thing is that you can carry 500 rounds to live off the land with a .22 for a fraction of the weight of anything else.

The silenced 22/45 is the perfect assassin close range weapon. Sub-sonic rounds + suppressor = same report as a loud finger snap

ruger 22/45 with a tac-sol paclite upper is pretty sweet also. these guns have a huge aftermarket support.

while the 22/45 is really nice, I like the Buckmark more -- and it's easier to field strip for cleaning.

I have the 22/45 Lite. Been working great so far. Light. Accurate. Fairly inexpensive. Relatively reliable(for a .22).

Holster for it. Works with optics.

25yrds.

Current config. Sight mod addition is fiber optic front sight only.

A-100 framed Ruger Standard, MK 1, or Mk 2. Simply great pistols.

The CZ Kadet is an incredible handgun.

While much smaller, Ruger's SR22 pistol is very reliable.

Only Browning Buckmark I ever had was a jam-o-matic. Nothing I could do alleviated that problem. Witnessed the same in many others.
