I am not sure if this is allowed but question, I have been using Paypal for years, yesterday I sold a blade on the exchange with zero problems, today another one went and I get a message from Paypal that they are holding my money until after delivery confirmation. That is completely asinine, and then when I called they told me it was always like that UGH idiots anyway has anyone had that experience and what are your other payment options?

I would be like you- never heard of it - unless this is some kind of special request maybe?
Then again, if I'm buying I expect to pay first- if I'm selling I expect to get paid first.

Been using PayPal on forums for a decade. Never one time has this happened. Even international sales.

I had that happen once with an eBay sale several years ago. At the time I figured that it was some sort of policy change but it never happened again.

They do it once in a while. Been happening for years; but it seems random, and everybody freaks out when it happens to them.

They do that on the "Bay", but I've never had it happen otherwise. Even if you put in the tracking information, PayPal can and will make you wait 21 days from delivery confirmation for your funds. Thats ridiculous and overboard in most cases. I don't know about you, but when I sell something its because I need the funds, its not like I'm a store, and they are connected to my bank anyway.

In my for sale notes, I usually specify an amount of time the buyer has to "inspect it" after the USPS delivery conformation. Usually a few days more or less after the delivery. Gives me recourse with PayPal for payment and makes sure the buyer cant come back on me after 30 days of using a new blade as a prybar.
The only reason that doesn't work with "the bay" is because of "buyer protection policy".

I have no problem with PayPal protecting the buyer, but the seller in that type of scenario has little assumed trust (imo) as they've basically already sided with the buyer. It should be unbiased until theres an issue.

They tried to tell me they were doing it to protect the seller so if the sale goes bad they can issue immediate refund, what a joke, does anyone use Venmo on sales

Was it Damascus? PayPal has a problem with that word.

PayPal has certain "trigger words" that makes them do that...mainly things that may tie in with Syria, or other nations or things where terrorism is prevalent. I got a purchase held up because the guy put "Spyderco Persian" in the item description.

never heard of this before. I wonder if the seller has to do something in his paypal account to activate that?

Man! Thats brutal. I can imagine some guys wife looking through his purchases for the month. He'll have a hard time convincing her it was actually a knife purchase. She'll say, "then why do you keep smiling every time I bring it up"?
;)

It would be kinda fun if every time we sold each other a knife that is what we called it. I would LMAO if I saw that on a box.
