OK we are having a lot of fun here but we have been straying a bit far off topic recently.

I like to have fun like the rest of you but our subject matter is getting a bit silly in some posts.

However I don't mind a good joke, in good taste of course, like that in the thread on Beaver attacks. However the Beaver still lives as no one has answered the question.

I am not even sure now if the question is legit or serious. I personally have never been attacked by a beaver, although the reverse may have occurred on more than one occasion

So I guess what I am trying to say here, in a very lax way, is let's try to remain on topic as best we can.

Also subjects which come up in this forum are subject to be moved if they would be better served in another forum.

This is the general forum and the term general is in reference to knives and not general subject matter. Political, tactical and technical questions will be moved to the appropriate forums.

No big deal folks, but we need to make the forum more enjoyable, more readable and not diluted.

I agree, though I'm certainly guilty of a goofy post every now and again. Newcomers probably think goofy posts are par for the course and that we're all insane...

Ever notice no other candy tastes quite like Pez? Oh yeah, the BM Mini-Axis and the Rekat Carnivour are the best production folders yet (IMHO of course ;))!!

I have a real Beaver attack story, a freind of mine was floating down the Jefferson River near Three Forks MT. when a Beaver swam out and bit his inner tube popping it, while the air was rushing out the Beaver swam underneath him and bit a chunk out of his butt! He was off work for a couple weeks while he was getting rabies shots and healing up. He said the worst part was he cant swim and his buddy had to rescue him from drowning!

Mike I agree that the topics are getting a little off, I just dont read them.

Mike,
I like the idea of having topics organized so I can find the ones I like, easily, and avoid sifting through the ones that don't interest me.
However, I also like coming to this forum because it exposes me to some topics I enjoy despite my expectations and might not otherwise have encountered.
Thanks for the great forum

Good point Mike T., we all can "drift".

I have a newspaper clipping from several years back about a rabid woodchuck (marmota monex) atacking people in a near by town. It sounds funny until YOU are getting stitches, or rabies shots.

Don't under estimate ANY animal with sharp teeth, or claws. Carry a BFK(B** F***ing Knife) to guard agains all furry attacks

Drift?
One of my favorite dogs, a fluffy little cutey-poo, caught a woodchuck in a Wisconsin cornfield.
Or, I should say, the woodchuck caught him.
I manged to find a 2X4 and beat the brains out of the woodchuck.
If only I had a knife, I could have gotten bitten too.
Hah! Drift. Hmph.

I guess what I was getting at was it started with Grizzly attacks, then cougar attacks, then beaver attacks and now fire ant attacks.

We are starting to sound like a FOX TV special

To Mike:

You know I am on your side. This is why I posted up, "Blade to Defend Against Stupid Topics". We are all here to have fun and I like humorous post. What I have a problem with is members who start topics that are stupid to begin with. Other members are feeding into this with numerous replies and this spurs on other members to enter new even stupider topics.

The issue here is we need to maintain the overall integrity of "BladeForums" and not have it turn into "SillyForums".

Mike,

I understand and support you on this issue. However, these silly topics are our equivalent of a brain storming session; and the creativity they spark often leads to the generation of many interesting and relevant new topic. Futhermore, I can't think of a better place for these topics than in the general forum.

Information overload is becoming a problem as more and more members join the forum. A way forward on this would be to:
1) Create a diversified set of forums
2) Provide a tool to allow members to monitor and participate in a personalized subset of these forums.

This would allow members to customize the experience to meet their preferences, without reducing the positive energy your site has generated.

Tiger,

I am one of the most serious people you could ever meet.

But even I understand that you cannot be serious all the time.

I think it is a great indicator of the level of comfort at BladeForums that people feel free to yuck it up a little.

But may I say this....

Everything is stupid when looked at from the right perspective.

Some could take offense at your calling their post stupid.

Mike,
I am hurt. Man you didn't even mention MY POST. You know the "Bigfoot" post. But I in a way I am pleased that you didn't mention it, maybe it wasn't too silly to you.
Hehehehe.

One of the things I like most about the forums is visiting with interesting people who share similar interests. There is more to it than just knives, although that is the focal point. If someone wants to put up a goofy topic,I don`t see the harm.If it offends or aggrivates you, don`t click to it.It`s that simple.I`m afraid once we start editing for topic content, another form of political correctness could begin.Lord knows we don`t need that!I agree that these posts could and should be more readily moved to the community or other forums.

I was once attacked by a butterfly.Should I have used a balisong?

I wish I would have gotten up the motivation to ask earlier in a post about any good history forums. I know this is off topic but this is the best place I know of to ask considering I know some of the other members have the same interests. This is the kind of "mission creep" your getting at right Mike? Know that I know the off topic posts are getting a little out of hand I won't post this topic. Now back to my main interest, sharpened steel (everything from folders to battle axes to bowies to morning stars).

Maybe if we condense a few forums we can open up room for a fun forum. Kinda like the "Cheers" forum.

I just do not want to detract from the main general forum.

Hey guys, how about this? What's your best knife for Mike's attack?

Mine is just a lockback, which means

If he locks my post, I will lock back.

Dew. (never run out of stupid stuff)

Mike,
I just do not want to detract from the main general forum.

How will it detract?

While these threads are going on people are still posting serious stuff?

I don't understand.

Who Hoo! Mike mentioned the Beaver post, that was mine!
Seriously though, I was just following suit with the Fire ants and woodchuck attacks. i know what your getting at, but it was said in jest. Hey, Rob Simonich was attacked by a Beaver, that's one more person who's fought a Bigfoot, so I guess my post has some credit at least, right?

Actually, the Grizzly bear one was good, that's a creature you have to worry about

For a group of people so rich in steel it seems that many are poor in irony

Mike, all those anima posts may not be so farfetched. IIrc, a former president from Georgia (can't remember his name, but he had a brother who sold beer) while on a fishing trip, had to defend himself from an angry aquatic rabbit. All he had was an oar.
