This may be off topic but this is my favorite section of bladeforums so i thought id ask.
I need schoold on stroping (spelling?) What do i need? technique? I have a ranger afghan and i had a sweet convex edge put on it and i want to keep it as long as possible. Any info/ tips are helpful.
 
Whats up Boomer, you can also make your own strop too. Just get a ~2" by 8" piece of 2x4 or something and glue a piece of leather (smooth side up), buy some green compound from like Lee Valley, and crayon it on. There are some good videos on youtube that show different techniques. I prefer holding the strop on my left hand and strop the knife like I'm spreading PB&J.

And I gotta swing by sometime to check out that Afghan!

If you are going to use compound, you don't need leather. Flat cardboard will work fine.
