Off Topic: This thing is AWESOME!

as much as i hate to say it, i'm glad that they're not releasing it all at once.

I want a laser pistol, but i don't think i want EVERYONE to have one

of course, it's possible right now to build stuff in your garage that looks like it came out of a james bond movie, so in 20 years, i'll get my laser pistol

it'd be great for hunting... kill, skin, and cook your prey in the same shot ;)

I don't understand what one would actually do with it. I get the flashlight and pointer...but would the handheld laser actually br used for?

Handheld lasers are nice for handheld burning of wood for decorative purposes. It's also useful for anyone who has a cnc router/other cnc based technology that can be used with a clamp to do mechanized patterns on wood or metal. Laser etching machines are expensive, and the handheld version is much less so.

Aside from instant permanent blinding if you flash someone (or yourself) in the eye with it - you will get a terrorist charge thrown against you if that laser ever touches an in flight airplane. These things aren't just powerful: they are powerful over great distances. You will have blinding effects a mile away in ideal conditions. If you walk into a crowd situation and do a quick motion left to right you can end up blinding hundreds of people. These are seriously dangerous tools.

... that would mean there were people in some lab playing with a PS3 in 1985. What are they playing with right now? ...
I think we all know precisely what they are playing with, though the citizens of Pakistan et al. are more familiar with them, namely DRONES.
