Hi folks,

I know its off topic but what the heck I'm excited and proud of the wife. Today was her first day as a civilian yesterday was her last day of active duty ending a 28 year 3 month stint. We have been all over the world in the last 28 years ending up in Texas and its been a fun ride for both of us. Our oldest daughter will be carrying on the tradition starting in May when she is commissioned as a 2nd lt in the US Army as a nurse.

I put together a small shadow box for my wife, I'm still working on a larger one.

I haven't been online much in the last couple of weeks because I've been painting and generally cleaning up for all the friends and family coming in from all over the country for her retirement party. Gonna be a blow out at the VFW Saturday night.

Anyway thanks for reading and for the good friends I've made here over the years.

PS: she got called this afternoon and informed that she was going to be deployed, HAH not gonna happen she had a truly evil tone to her laugh as she informed them where they could stick that.

Awesome!!! Congrats and thanks for both hers and your service. My wife is active duty currently with about 14 years left if she wants to retire as a LtColonel. I've been chasing her around after finishing my time in the Marines. Def hard moving every few years, but also exciting too! Plus it makes us closer I think. We are actually about to PCS to Puerto Rico.

Again congrats to the wife, enjoy Texas (my home state)!

Tell her thank you and congratulations!
Sounds like you are a lucky guy.
Cheers to you both.

Thank you both, Adian I met mine a few years after I got out of the Army and have been scooting around after her ever since. Starting new jobs every few years was the hardest part. So were unaccompanied overseas tours. It worked out well for us though and its been fun.

WOW!!! That's FANTASTIC!!! Give her a BIG THANK YOU and CONGRAT'S from me too!!!

Have a GREAT Party, she's earned it!!!

Congratulations to her! I hope you both have a good time with family and friends celebrating the milestone.

Please pass on the "congrats" to her! Which service? I couldn't tell from your pic. Always nice to see someone retire from the military!

Encourage her to seek out the VA for any lingering issues from her service. No matter how minor, she could be eligible for compensation. The VA home loan program is worth it should you be purchasing a home!

The service is the Air Force, I recognize those patches. Congratulations to her and thank her for her service. Welcome to the silly villain ...er civilian world

Thanks everyone, she started in the Air Force and transferred to the Public Health Corps. She wanted to keep going for 30 but the Pt just keeps getting harder and so do deployments after you hit your 50s. She's already dealing with the VA and looks like she will end up around 100% disabled according to them. Lot of accumulated damage over the years.

God bless the both of you and thank you both for your service.
I hope the party is one for the record books and also that you find new and exciting things to do in her retirement.

Thank you and your wife for your service to our country.

I hope she feels a bit better after she has time to rest after the big retirement bash and I trust she will find some exciting hobbies so you don't get micro managed to death! ;)

No kidding, she's going to go to work at a local hospital in a couple of weeks and I'm ready. I haven't been this throughly supervised since I got out of the Army 30yrs ago and it wasn't a Lt Colonel following me around with a list of chores then either. 54 days of terminal leave. Great god almighty let it end lol.

Congratulations! Now the real adventure begins, choosing your own path together without orders! ;)

Big congrats to her!

And you too...for her starting the other job. ;) :D
