Office Knives

I typically carry more than one knife, but a 302 is usually the bare minimum for desk work. A wonderful fidget knife when you're thinking and a great pointing device when you're giving your computer screen what for.

I'm told in French a small pairing knife is called "Couteau D' Office" . To them an office knife is a pairing knife.

To me an office knife has to have a thin blade for opening envelopes, so a pairing knife fits the bill.

I could go with that ^. I would carry the paring knife that came in the Empress Trio set, model 200. A 4 inch 440C blade with maroon or black micarta. In the original 107 Scout sheath. A drop in pouch sheath. DM

Thanks guys, these are great suggestions for a Office Knife. I see some of these you guys are mentioning around our office. When I am called in for meetings and know I'll be in a office setting I'll carry my Heritage series from 2009? Duke, with s30v blade. This was the first 500 with that steel and canvas micarta, offered through BCCI. (in my first photo) I carry it in a 500 sheath. Yesterday, I knew I would be in our office and carried that knife. I had made sure it was sharp in lieu of this trip. Well, it turned out New Mexico State University was hosting FFA Week.
And speeches, livestock judging, outdoor cooking and social events were going on. Our employees were doing a luncheon for 500 of these student/ competitors assembled from all over the state. I was in the team that cooked 500 hamburger patties. Others did hot dogs, chips, the
trimmings and drinks. It was quite an affair with the Secretary of Agriculture present and a lot of students got their picture made with him.
I'm in the trenches placing patties on a smoking, hot, grill. When somebody shouts, I can't get these just thawed burgers out of the vaccuum sealed packages because no one has a sharp knife. Out comes my Duke and we have raw burgers on the grill. Things are going well now.
I remained in that area, mostly with my back to the grill, cutting open the heavy sealed packages of patties. Grab a stack, turn around and place them on the grill. From 10:30 to 1:30 we stayed at it. Until all were fed. Then we cleaned up and returned to the office. As I walked to the
office, with my glasses completely clouded over, I heard something and turned to look behind me. When I saw 2 stray dogs following me from the hamburger scent.
My Duke was the only sharp knife around. Plus it held it's edge thru cutting open 11 card board boxes, holding 6 packages of patties each (66). Then prying apart the partially frozen patties to place on the grill. My Duke was covered with meat and dried juices. But the edge wiped off still cut. So, you never know what you'll be called upon to do with your 'office knife'. DM

David, those are beautiful. I love engraved knives and those are over the top. WOW. She does great work!

David .the 112's on the first page were real fine..Especially the scrimed one . A great knife for any use.

Thank you. I'm wondering if they could make a move to the office. I carry the scrimmed one to more formal events. i.e. award ceremonies, funerals, ect.. DM

My office knife is my edc. Which is a spitfire. It's the best staple remover around . Seeing that abuse my knife doing all sorts of things in the shop or at the service desk if a break the tip it becomes a parts knife and just buy a new one. I know I could probably just slide it through warranty but that just isn't right.

honestly, thank you for this ^ comment. Sometimes we are tempted to get someone else to cover our mistakes / abuses. Being a stand up guy and coming out
with it here in a post, I respect. Thanks, for saying this. DM

I carry my Buck 55 or Buck Solo. I’m always very discreet in the work environment. Past experiences have determined it’s best to be when using my pocket knife.

I like it, tiguy. Though I haven't seen any buffalo walking around our office. That's the Selector skinner blade. DM :)

Honestly, no reason not to put them all in a box and send them to Buck. Tell them you don't expect a warantee repair. They'll get new blades and Buck will charge what they think is fair. This is what I did with 2 110's and a 111. $32 later I had 3 like new knives.

501 or 55, both in wood scales. My right pocket contains a Vantage. Left pocket contains the 55 or 501. Vantage is there but does not come out in the office. Sometimes a yellow scaled vintage fishing knife or an equally vintage electrician's knife replaces the left hand side knife.
