Thanks guys, these are great suggestions for a Office Knife. I see some of these you guys are mentioning around our office. When I am called in for meetings and know I'll be in a office setting I'll carry my Heritage series from 2009? Duke, with s30v blade. This was the first 500 with that steel and canvas micarta, offered through BCCI. (in my first photo) I carry it in a 500 sheath. Yesterday, I knew I would be in our office and carried that knife. I had made sure it was sharp in lieu of this trip. Well, it turned out New Mexico State University was hosting FFA Week.
And speeches, livestock judging, outdoor cooking and social events were going on. Our employees were doing a luncheon for 500 of these student/ competitors assembled from all over the state. I was in the team that cooked 500 hamburger patties. Others did hot dogs, chips, the
trimmings and drinks. It was quite an affair with the Secretary of Agriculture present and a lot of students got their picture made with him.
I'm in the trenches placing patties on a smoking, hot, grill. When somebody shouts, I can't get these just thawed burgers out of the vaccuum sealed packages because no one has a sharp knife. Out comes my Duke and we have raw burgers on the grill. Things are going well now.
I remained in that area, mostly with my back to the grill, cutting open the heavy sealed packages of patties. Grab a stack, turn around and place them on the grill. From 10:30 to 1:30 we stayed at it. Until all were fed. Then we cleaned up and returned to the office. As I walked to the
office, with my glasses completely clouded over, I heard something and turned to look behind me. When I saw 2 stray dogs following me from the hamburger scent.
My Duke was the only sharp knife around. Plus it held it's edge thru cutting open 11 card board boxes, holding 6 packages of patties each (66). Then prying apart the partially frozen patties to place on the grill. My Duke was covered with meat and dried juices. But the edge wiped off still cut. So, you never know what you'll be called upon to do with your 'office knife'. DM
