Office Space…

The knife I carry to the office almost every day is a Benchmade 707 sequel. It's the perfect office knife, IMO.

Spyderco Kopa or Kiwi would do nicely. Even a Caly 3 would work nicely, especially if it's the one with ZDP-189 blade and carbon fiber handle scales.

I carry my BK-09 in my pocket when discretion is in order :D

Ok, so you’re an office worker and want to EDC a single-bladed locking folder. You’ll want to use it opening copier paper boxes, mail, a few blister packs of new office supplies, and maybe peel a grapefruit on lunch-break. You’re probably not going to opt for anything Emerson, a RAT-1, or something like the Kershaw Blur (until you're off the corporate clock, anyway :D) You’re probably going to want something more discreet that is smaller and lighter; a knife with a decent pocket-clip that won’t eat up your khakis but will keep your knife secure. Maybe you just want a knife you can drop right into your pocket and forget all about it… until you need it.

What do you recommend?

A triditional. jack or trapper.

I'd say my blue 556 Mini-Griptilian(as long as you don't do the Axis flick open and closed) is the most innocuous looking lock-open knife I own, even more so than my blue Delica which looks alien to some people unfamiliar with knives due to its odd leaf shaped blade and the Spyderhole. IMO, knives that are likely to fall outside of people's experiences and attract undue attention are some you might want to avoid(although CWL's experience with the Tasman Salt contradicts me.) Even my Boker Subcom gets comments--I don't know if they feel threatened by it but they do think its a strange knife. AO's and even manual flippers might get a raised eyebrow from some people. Still, I'd carry whatever I'm allowed to carry in that situation and if people have a problem with it, that's their problem.

+1

I've never gotten any weird looks from the gals in the office using mine, and I don't exactly live in the most knife friendly area. I'd also suggest a small Insingo or Sebenza.

On the other hand, I also think it has a lot to do with one's personal demeanor. I always have a smile on my face, and am always quick to offer my help whenever anyone needs it. Heck, a couple of the little old women I work with tell me that they wish their grand kids were like me--all while I'm using an Umnumzaan to break down boxes.

I usually EDC the Dragonfly G10 at the office. Outside of the office I mainly EDC my Caly3 G10 but on the days I do take it in I rarely use it. My Ladybug2 is my backup locking blade at all times along with my Vic Midnite MiniChamp.

I would not use anything more tactical than a small Victorinox Classic. Anything bigger would freak them out (at least at my office).

Any spyderco with a small non-serrated edge and colored FRN (?) scales. Or a lava.

Or the smaller Rough Rider sodbuster with acryllic scales. I like the imitation tortoishell or the painted desert.

An Opinel #8 or #6 in Carbone and a small Whetstone....carbon steel, and you can practice your honing skills on a sub $15 knife.

I have been carrying an Opinel #8 and a Spyderco Military at work....if people are around me I pull out the Opinel.....even the crazy complaining office supply lady likes it.

Kershaw composite Leek 1660Cb or Zing also look at the Spyderco Ambitious (big knife small package). I used to carry a Kershaw Grant County sub-2" lock back.

Go with the Buck Vantage, Pro or Avid..

Nice looking knife, great quality and totally non-tactical looking :D

how about this ?
kopa
caly3
Mcusta , this knife should be mentioned more often .
