Office Survival Kit

Some years ago several friends were stuck at work durring a major rainstorm. When the power went out the change machines didn't work but several of the vending machines would... a roll of quarters might be a good idea (check out the vending machines to see if the will work without power). I also keep several granola and power bars in the desk, and my vehicle (a couple of power pars in a row will keep you from eating the rest unless required (I consider them pretty nasty) . Some pay phones will also work when the power goes (another use for quarters), some office phones will not (kind of a moot point untill the cell batteries die).
I currently carry a $6 diorcy LED light from Wallyworld. It runs a long time on a AAA cell and there are more in the desk and my vehicle.
Major disasters - I like the wrecking bar and gloves.
Instead of a blanket I have a fleece bag (wallmart again) it is rolled and fits in a drawer nicely (with the wrecking bar and other stuff).
You should be able to walk out in the cloths you wear. (I favor the lumberjack look as a fashion statement.) I drive to work so transportaion should not be an issue (but I am still prepared towalk home). I am going to bring a cheap poncho to work and leave it(good idea). The space blanket would be a good enhancer for the fleece bag.
I keep an elastic bandage in the drawer also (along with the first aid kit in the vehicle. I carry at least 6 large fabric bandaids in my wallet for small emergencies. they can be cut up to serve as expedient butterfly bandages (in place of stiches).
A cup of water does not seem like much of a supply (if the water supply fails, you are in the middle of a large disaster and you will need more).
The whistle is a good idea only if you can access it after being trapped (this is an item that should be carried at all times, IMO).
Here we have a snow storm that shuts the town down for a couple of days every 10 years of so. The last time, many employees were stuck at their work places for several days (some baby wipes are a good clean up option)
(A locked out 4WD with boggers is a better one)(it lets you laugh at the GIs stuck in their hummers as you drive by...but I digress.)
Enjoy!
