Official BE Sheath-Passaround Thread *pic heavy*

Regarding the fit of Warriors clip point into the sheath. I would simply change the design to the outline of the clip point. That would ensure a tighter fit with all leather contact to the blade. Easy design change.
Cheers

I hear ya. I wish I had a stock 2 to test it on. One of these days I'll get another.

JWL, tried PM'ing you, but your box is full. Need your address for the pass around. Thanks.

Took a few photos of the weight a bit ago. Sorry a little grainy, lighting wasn't the best. The sheath weighs in at 6.17 ounces:

Or, 175 grams:

A few final thoughts:

I already took some photos, and gave a few impressions here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...nd-Thread-*pic-heavy*?p=10866435#post10866435

Like said before, fit and finish are awesome. I like the detail/tooling work. Well thought out design for the most part. Weight isn't too bad as posted above. I guess my only cons to it, are 1, as stated, I feel retention could be better, but again, my BK2 is clipped, so there's less there to grip to. Thrillbilly said the retention was great, so I'm attributing mine to the clip. I think if the knife sat a little deeper in the sheath, it would also retain better. 2, as also previously stated, the retainer strap gets in the way of the edge. BaldingEagle already addressed this, saying he was going to do a shock cord retainer, to pull it back out of the way. And 3, I feel it is way too thick. This sheath is 7 layers thick, 8 if you count the belt loop. I'll be the first to admit that I'm no sheath expert, but I don't really see where the extra layers are needed. Seems you only need a front piece, back piece, and the welt. Since the BK2 is a quarter inch thick, perhaps two pieces for the welt, for a total of 4 layers.

JWL, you need to get in contact with me if you want this next. Greybush, you might as well PM me your address. If I don't hear from JWL by Sunday night, I'll mail this off to you Monday.

Warrior,
Thanks for the honest comments. This is exactly why I wanted the passaround. Regarding the thickness.....the BK 2 does require 2 layers for the welt. The other Beckers only require 1. I put 2-3 behind the welt so that the handle doesn't push the back piece out. But, I can put leather wedges and not use full length pieces. Personally, I like the "chunky" appearance but I have heard from others on the sheath forum that don't. So, for what ever orders I may get, I will be sure to discuss thickness options. The current BK7 sheath I'm working on will be a "chunky" one because that's what he asked for. Not a big deal one way or the other.
Thanks
Balding

You're welcome. That's why I prefaced with, "I'll be the first to admit that I'm no sheath expert'. That was my thinking, if the handle went down a little further in the sheath, the extra layers wouldn't be needed. Front and back layer to hold more of the handle while inserted, thus eliminating the need for the extra welt layers. Don't get me wrong, I love this thing as is. Just my observations. The craftsmanship is top notch.

Greybush, I just mailed this off to you. JWL never responded.

Just got this in...it was a warm day today, over 90...nothing beats the smell of warm leather to me....

First impression? This thing is damn fine...i have my 2 in it now and it will be on my side this weekend...ill post a review after the holiday...

Good to see it got there. Yeah, gotta love the smell of leather...

Ok, my humble apologies for being a tad late on this...crazy week and I was a little under the weather...

Honestly, I'm not sure what I can add to the review that has not been fully covered by Thrill and Dubz...I mean they covered the entire picture as far as specs go...I am just going to write what I feel about the sheath...But First of all I want to thank Balding Eagle for doing this and letting me be apart of it...

So, I got this sheath in and honestly it is beautiful..it was a warm day when I unboxed it and the smell of leather was awesome...right away I grabbed my 2 and put it in its new temporary home.

First thing I noticed was that it was a perfect fit..I see where Warrior said that his clip point might have caused some slipping because mine fit perfectly...The snap system was spot on and it did not really get in the way of the blade like Warrior experienced. But that could be from a different drawing method or something.

I had plans on taking it to the caverns with me last weekend, but being a holiday weekend it was totally packed so we decided to check out a few trails locally instead...I wore the sheath with the BK2 in it from the time we left the house until we got back from the trip. I drive a Ford F150 and had no issues with discomfort while wearing it. It did not hit me awkwardly in the side or anything..It did feel a little heavy, but we are talking about a BK2 and a pretty thick sheath so yeah weight is going to be there...

Anyways, wore it all day, had no issues of it coming unsnapped or slipping....I did unsnap it and shook the hell out of it to try and get it to come out..it did after about 7 good shakes...

As far as my opinions of the sheath, I'll start out by saying that it is DAMN fine made..Some may think that it would be too thick...But I don't mind it at all. I believe that a fat girl needs a big dress, and the BK2 is totally a fat girl. The stitching is awesome, the tooling just adds class and the over all fit and finish is great. I'm not sure how long BE has been doing this, but you would think while having this in your hand that it has been a long time hobby. Would I buy one? Hell I did, BE is making me a 7 sheath as we speak, and I am going to try to take this one off his hands too ;) (Sorry TB possession is 9/10th's of the law).

I know that this may not be the best review, but like I said, Warrior and Thrill covered all the bases and then some. Short of trying to baton with it, I don't know what else could be added...

Here are some pics I took of it....Hope y'all like em and if any of you that are thinking about buying a sheath from BE and have questions, please feel free to ask...

ALSO, Who's next? I know I got this out of turn...Balding, it's your call....let me know who I can send this to or I can send it back to you...

I figured my clip was the culprit. It fit in okay, was just a little loose is all.
