Farmer lacks scissors. I'll be happy with my Huntsman any day (and it's crappy, cracked plastic handle slab thingies)...

Beckerhead #42

Thats a cool knife, but I really like using the awl on my fire steel. When its in the middle like that it dosnt work. Thats just part of why I love the Farmer so much.

Anybody here use the Pioneer Harvester model? I was looking at some of the models and that one seems very similar to the farmer, but with an little blade swapped in.

And dang I wish I could find a one or two layer model with a saw. That would be my ideal, but I don't think they exist :(.

Look up the bushcrafter its 3 layers but close enough

Or get a custom one put together, if you poke around this forum or certain other multi-tool oriented forums you will find people that do it. You just have to send them the donor SAKs and some cash money for the work. Eventually I plan on getting a farmer modded with a scissors layer put together.

Victorinox Marlboro Outdoorsman. I'm up to ten or twelve of these. One for every pack!

Farmers are nice too though.

Great info man, I appreciate that. I'm looking around, and it appears that they're currently in production but are just hard to find or something like that.

Looking into it more there were a few other really nice looking models like that (woodsman, wilderness), but they're not in production anymore either.

Looks like the closest thing to any of the suggestions here is either the farmer, or the pioneer harvester.

Thanks again guys, I'll have to keep my eyes out for them :).

Glad I could help. Try checking a popular auction site and you should find a couple

I had a SAK when I was a kid, haven't ever looked into one since then. The farmer looks nice. Any of them have orange scales? I feel like I saw a picture of one a while ago that was metallic orange.

Yes look up swissbainco. I think I am allowed to say him because he has his own forum here. If not let me know and ill remove it.

I've given my 1st SAKenstein to a good friend & created this one:

It's based on the Pioneer Harvester, but I removed the opener. Added a small blade, ground down to a flat edge for carving & of course, scissors.

I honestly think this would be my one knife, if I had to choose.

Red Panda, that is a fantastic mod. I've long longed for a Farmer with scissors.

Guyon, it's so easy to do. All you need is 2.5mm & 3.0mm brass rod from a R/C hobby store, a drill with those size bits & a ballpeen hammer to close it back up. I tried 1/8" torx screws & barrels, but there's a lot of drilling to do & I had a tough time lining them up. I've made a couple so far, even a Bushcrafter clone, but this one based on the Harvester is my favourite. I prefer a tiny blade for detail work & this fits the bill. Lemme know if you give it a try.

I forgot to mention that I was inspired by AverageIowaGuy's efforts. Kudos to him & others that have helped me, along the way.

Yep, I do. Given a few as gifts too. It's been my favorite production model for sometime.
