I will start it off.

Well, I ate pizza and it didnt agree with me and my reflux. I stayed up til 3 am with indegestion and decided to shut off the alarm, and not hunt Sat 10-4-08.

Til the wife woke we at 6:30 am and said, are ya going hunting?

I thought well heck I aint going back to sleep now so after few cups a coffee and just as many bathroom trips I went out back door to my stand at 8:00am

I have been deer hunting since I was 8 and now I am 37. Same as many of you, and like many Ive killed a lot of deer etc. I have even called a few in the past, but like most I believe, I have witnessed on more times the deer either ignore or go the other way.

Well, THis wouldnt have been so special if I hadnt of called it in with my mouth:eek:

No call...My mouth

Little preface... my state of VA is fairly overpopulated especially in NOVA so we have a very liberal doe season. Its actually everyday of the season in the county I live. So, taking does has to be done for the heath of the herd.

I got in my stand at 8:00am

this small food plot is behind me

this clearing is directly infront of me and runs about 1000ft and is where me and my neighbors drainfield lines runs back to our septic fileds

this is to my left- just behnd my pond. the deer came out over here. came out with here two fawns and went to the right up on and around the damn away from me

This is when I went proactive. I started bleating.. At firts I was ignored and then I raised the pitch like a fawn or those that grew up on a farm around cattle I started balling like a calf in distress.

THis doe snatched here head around at 75yrds away and came bck to me like she was on a string and came with here two fawns. It wasnt like she had lost a fawn etc.

I fooled her so badly that she came and brought them to the trouble with here. She popped out dead in front of me 34yrds out

here just behind where my bow is

Ok, we all know you were doing edge to edge impact tests on the broadhead:rolleyes:

...and the blood? Come on Bro, we've all been bitten by a Busse;)

:D:D:D

Nice hat T:thumbup:

Great shot man, its not as easy to take one with a bow as it seems:thumbup:
Almost always some tracking involved, great job at that as well.

congratulations on your harvest

***edit

"nice hat"

Nice job, knife hunter!

My Muzzy 100gr. three-blade came out unscathed in my bow kill last week. Yours don't look so hot.... :(

How long do you wait before you start tracking? I usually wait 45 minutes, but the doe I heart-shot this year went down in sight after travelling only about 30-35 yards.

I went back out again yesterday afternoon to try and fill my NY "either sex" bow/muzzleloader deer tag. No luck... I put my buddy in my best stand and neither of us saw anything.

I almost got taken out of the tree by a hawk though! I saw a large bird in a nearby tree and started looking at my daypack and thinking about getting out my binocs. When I looked back at the bird, I got a different view of it. It was about ten feet away, headed right for my face!

I held on to my hat and ducked, almost dropping my bow. The hawk landed in the next tree and sat there looking at me and screeching. By then, I had started laughing.

That's the second time I've had a bird of prey make a go at me. I saw an owl watching me in the predawn dark one morning. I started wiggling the fingers on one hand to see if it would interest him. Oh yeah! I almost screamed like a girl when the big bird dropped down out of the tree and swooped right at me. :o

Good hunting,

How far did you have to track her?

as the crow flies about 100 yrds

as she ran:eek:

about 150:thumbdn:

as you can see from my shot, I was a little low. I only got one lung:o

and even with a Muzzy staright through the bottom of the heart and a busted shoulder

she ran like the wind

desmo bob,

I went back to the house and finished my coffee:D:thumbup:. I gave her a little better than an hour. I didnt push her.

THe muzzy went through the femur and then the sternum on both sides before hitting the ground.

clean pass through.

I think I like my thunderheads better but thats a lot of bone that muzzy took on for 100 grains:D:thumbup:

this ole gal did have some spunk though

Forget the deer, I'll take the satin/snake AD or that SJ :D

I'll tell ya what after busting my rear end etc gutting, draggin her , cutting a trail and taking pics.

even after giving em all a chance to see how they performed the weight of the Cuteleus was a delight

THe Cult easily out performed the rest of the blades shown.

THe rounded tip made the work much easier

Now I gutted her with SJ, and cut trail with FBMLE that the cult couldnt of done but it definitely out performed the rest

For such fragile-looking creatures, they are tough MF'ers! I wonder how far a human could go with the same damage? Probably just straight to the ground....

I have some Thunderheads, too. I almost tried some Montec G5s this season but I already have a whole box of assorted broadheads and expandables, so I kept the money in my pocket.

Stay sharp,

I'm sure it did! It has the overall design that would work better for that application by far. Heh, try using that versus the Jack for paring duty in the kitchen. I'm just not drawn to it's design much. Never did like it.
