I realised this morning we cannot have a major USA Mainland disaster without a Rusty type paranoid 'Where's my back-up for the back-up?" tool thread. Rusty had a back-up weapon system for every front line weapon system and every second wave system. He had third and fourth wave positions. Probably had a blue print of choice Nevada mine shaft locations too.... When Katrina hit Rusty would have been buying cases of ammo and extra mags. Extra capacity mags alleviate anxiety, it is a proven fact. Rusty was very calm.

He owned enough to defend Hawthorne from Hurricane or Alien invasion. God Keep Rusty. We have a new storm in the Gulf of Mexico brewing. It might hit category FIVE. You can bet Rusty would order even MORE mags then.

IT's OK with this Reviewer if any of you want to buy a extra capacity magazine for a semi auto carbine you might not even own. Buy another HI khuk, too. You never know. If you're feeling particularly dangerous you might down a caffeine rich soft drink while watching America's Most Wanted this Saturday with the front door locked and a cap gun on your chest. Or a cat. Rusty liked cats. He'd buy a case of ammo just to defend the orphan Kittens who'd wandered into his home.

My Dad once opined he'd not like to face a Siamese cat in the dark in a strange home. Attack cats? I don't think so. Buy a extra capacity mag instead.

If you're perturbed wondering if this thread makes any sense or not I'm unmoved. Rusty had no logical reason to believe he'd ever make it to his third or fourth back up positions, but he had 'em anyway. I mean, C'mon; Rusty and a FN/FAL and 2000 rounds insufficient to meet threat?

I like cats too...and I liked Rusty.

Even Rusty though...would be buying water too. And filter units as a backup. And spare filters.

And a good boat...with an inflatable backup in it.

Speaking of that.....

We are having a food day at work for our clerk's birthday.

So the food table is right over the cubicle wall from my desk.

At lunch I am on the phone with AIM, ordering a can of 7.62X54R and 400 rounds of 7.62X25 on stripper clips. "Jim" I hear my clerk say from over at the food table. "Yes Vicki?" I responded. "Jim, not to be eavesdropping, but after hearing what you ordered I'm gonna be extra careful not to piss you off anytime in the near future" she said. :D

Boats, yes; Wait till he see's the godamned Bats, I mean; Boats. Rusty would get a boat. There's a huge body of water near Hawthorne and it flooded the area, (as bodies of water are required to periodically biblically flood areas- even deserts)

:)

I smile when I pick up my FN/FAL. I think of Rusty. He did point the way to good deal on mags and ammo.

I even bought a 12 pk of Heinekins the other day. It isn't my brand.

In Spirit, we are all of us, (those who are so inclined) ALWAYS in the desert together with Rusty. We are behind a sand berm and are shooting at a junked car a hundred yards away. It is smoking. Or we are on a Sand Bar in the Brazos...By God, Life's Cheap Out Here....and the Cherokee Rose by Yvsa is in our hands, multi cap semi auto firearms in our hands, and for those of you so inclined; a Brewsky. This will never change or go away. WE saw it, felt it, lived it. It never happened, you say?

It did. If neurons and energy exist then it happened. Because our dreams are as important as rice in the belly, the Sun over our heads and the Wind in our face.

I have been thinking about the Hurricane folks and water filters. I got one I use for backpacking and I was thinking they could have dropped those to folks on the rooftops.

....if he starts playing the slots and chain smoking we've a problem....

I still have my Swiss 1911 long rifle (see my avatar).

Now, I have a bayonet for it too. ( that makes it REALLY long, and helps me aim better. Just stick in target, pull trigger. Never runs out of batteries like curde and unreliable laser sights, etc.)

I have another swiss rifle coming on a trade. It uses the same magazine as my 1911. That counts, right?

Absolutely. Rusty believed in having more. He liked the word 'ample' when it came to ammo, mags, and firepower.

Well, I don't have any magazines, but I am carrying a nice Kershaw Talon linerlock that I bought from Rusty's estate. I think of him every time I open it, which is often.

I'm certainly better prepared to handle emergencies because of it.

Rita just hit Cat. 5, sustained winds of 165- gusts maybe 180, 185.

I've bugged out 3 times in the last year for hurricanes. SIG 229, Benelli M1 Super Tactical... and.. a couple others were the first things in the car.

Ammo is a given.

Oh, yeah. Also food, water & a radio.

Ad Astra

and my Siamese cat has been through 4 hurricanes- Andrew, Ivan, Dennis & Katrina. Like me, he probably hates the part where your ears pop from the low pressure.

Yeah it doesn't look good for all those folks down there. Hurricanes sound totally scarey. I'm glad we don't have them here.

We have used a water filter called a Big Berkey for a long time. It has a pretty good capacity & does a good job. In polluted &/or toxic conditions, I'd probably still boil the water after filtering. 'Course you still need the Fn/Fal & a respectable number of rounds, along with a few necessary tools & khukuris. Ole Rusty had a good point about being prepared.

A hurricane showed up in Appalachia once...the boys tossed a blanket over it, kicked the tar out of it and shipped it back south on the midnight express.

Ok.......with all the mag being mentioned..........i would guess a khukri would be the last weapon.............after if and only if...that every mag is expanded..........

which will be your KHUK ?
