Official Statement about my controversial comment

Lynn,
I must have missed something here over the past week. Please DO NOT become less active here at Bladeforums! Your expertise and ability to put it in words is appreciated by many including myself. I feel that it would be a shame for the Forums to loose this over you stating your opinion and the above mentioned situation.
Neil

Lynn, Neil is exactly correct. And IMHO, it's a shame that "world class maker" does not a "world class gentleman" make.

Lynn,
I have never talked to you, and thus, don't know you at all. What I have done, is learn good information from a lot of your posts. We all make mistakes from time to time. It sucks for you that it was on a public forum. What you do to correct your mistake, shows what kind of person you are. What you have written in this thread shows that you are an honorable person. I would hate to lose the benefit of your abilities on this forum. As for your self promotion, I think it shows you have a load of confidence in your work. I hope to one day own one of your fine pieces. If someone thinks you over promote your products, let them scroll down when they see your name. Noone is making them read your post. If this has left a bad taste in your mouth, and you feel like you need to take a break for a while, go ahead. Please come back though, there are plenty of people who would miss you.

Take care,

Lynn,
YOU JUST SLANDERED MY NAME TO THE WHOLE FORUM AGAIN IN YOUR IRC CHAT ROOM COMMENT ABOVE.

I have never been in a IRC chat room and said ONE word about you. Please post the conversation where I said one word about you Lynn from IRC CHAT ok as you stated above. Im sure you used cut and paste to copy the conversation to cover your statement above?
I have been in the Irc chat room 4 or so times in the last year. I have never mentioned or been part of a conversation about you in any way.

As for me posting pics on the forums Lynn .. Well at one time we enjoyed that freedom here in bladeforums. The folks who did post....used it wisley or thought we did.

Good Luck In your Knifemakeing business.
I hope you do well .

What a thread! It would appear to me that Lynn's true talent is in making knives. There are others on this forum that present their debated positions better than others. Personally, I would rely more on the finished product to state Lynn's position than I would in any written forum. If Lynn has an opinion that clearly differs from other makers (whether on this forum or in the chat room), I for one would like to hear it. It is from diversity that we see innovations.
Funny thing, as a "consumer" every custom maker and manufacturer is vying for my dollar for their product. I have seen plenty of what I call "crossovers" or "borrowing" a design and modifying same. There are innovators in this knifemaking arena that never get their due recognition because whatever they designed is now in the common "market place".

My vote is for the honest opinion...whether it rocks and jars the establishment or not!
Now if the "good ole boys" want to dish it out, they ought to be able to take it as well!

My .02 cents worth

Thank you to all that are supporting me. I appreciate that. Let me say this though.

I rubbed some people the wrong way. They took offense. They reacted. I appologized, and I meant it, and I still mean it. I was over zealous. I did make an untasteful remark. I am sorry.

I have respect for, and faith in all the parties involved. I know in my heart that this is over. Please do not look at these guys as bad guys. They aren't bad guys. They are great knifemakers, and they are people. I stirred them up. It was not my intention, but I did. I am sure over time, all wounds will heal. I believe eventually we will all be friends. At least, those are my hopes.

Again,

Thanks for those that have shown support

Apologies to those I have offended

Thank you,
Lynn Griffith

When an opinion reflects on the lack of honesty of a maker such as Ed Halligan, it needs to be reconsidered and it has. Ed is one of the most honest people I know.

There is no way on earth he would take any ideas from anyone without giving them credit. He is also a good salesperson. Sometimes that can be a rare mix.

It it very easy for me to understand the reactions that took place. Glad it is over.

Gus,
I second what you said. It's over. We all learned alot from it.

I hope to see all of you guys in Las Vegas, either at the SHOT Show or the Las Vegas Classic Knife Show.
