Official take the "scout" into production-thread.

This thread is proof that hope springs eternal. :)

I doubt that we'll ever see this knife in production. The design is by someone who doesn't work at CRK. I'm sure there's all sorts of potential IP issues that would prevent CRK from really going after this thing. I mean, why hassle around with lawyers when you already can't make enough knives to satisfy demand?

You may be right . . . or not. Wouldnt take a lot to get around any legal issues at all (I wonder if there are any issues - someone took a CRK design & modified it. Really doubt they would have a claim to ownership of that) - - at most, an understanding between the interested parties would do it.
I can think of tasks, such as a big game and a trout&bird knife - where I have a need for a tool and it looks like this design would do the job nicely. The Skinner is longer than I'd like for this 'double duty' use. CRK can get my money, - - or another manufacturer. It might as well be CRK.
P.S. - - bet a bladesmith could do a nice little business customizing customers knives for them. Hmmm - a versatile design that has the strength and 'survival tool' benefits of the CRK hollow handle ? Sounds good to me . . . & lot of other guys. What's the Zulu word for "Scout" ?

whatever happens... I can tell you, that what you mentionned is NOT a problem at all and Anne knows that. I'm the last person to claim any rights if Chris would implent it. And he also knows that...

ALSO... who said I'm not "one of them"? Take a good look below... ;)

PiterM - - could you please tell me the blade length on the Scout ? Maybe I missed it in some of the long threads on this topic. Thanks - - -

I have just one question! I know that this knife will probably never make it to the public. Would it be wrong to redo my own Ubejane to look like the Scout?? I have a well used one I would like to have worked on as it needs to be reconditioned anyway. This will not be for commercial but for personal use only. I had been wanting to do this but wopuld not want to incurr the wrath of CRK diehards! Opinions??

Up from the grave.....doesn't look like they have any intentions of making the Scout :(

Chris D. :D

What I'd do, and I think I posted this before is buy a Ubejane , scribe a line on it, then send it a water jet cutting place. I don't imagine it would be terribly expensive.

Grinding the knife down would be relatively easy. Just don't get it too hot.! It is just a matter of taking the spine down, no?I doubt if Mr. Reeves will do one as he already has new models out. I wish I kept mine so I could redo it.

I would take 2, maybe 3.
Imagine your initials as serial #. THAT would be personlized.

Where's my 2 Scouts??? :grumpy::grumpy: :foot: :D:D:D LOL, I'm DEFINITELY still interested if these start getting produced!:thumbup:

I got a chance to meet PiterM this summer @ BLADE East... A very nice fellow, indeed!

Alright, I'm in too. What I like about the Ubejane is the length and diameter of the handle compared to the blade length. If CRK produces the 'Scout', I will buy...
