Hello folks, I have only posted in this forum a few times and only a handfull on bladeforums in general. For quite a while I have been trying to get into slipjoints and covert myself to carry them and not one hand opening tactical type folders. I am here to say it's official and I hope to be here in this forum quite often and contribute.

I wasn't easy, everything from getting use to the two handed opening to the "pocket bulge" was an obstacle to overcome. As time goes on I feel I don't need the flashiest knife that has the top of the line steel or fancy materials, all I need is a quality knife that can cut what I need and get the job done.

Thanks to a buddy of mine I will be getting 8 very decent slippies to go with the growing number I already have (some I have gotten recently). You guys run a great place here and I am glad to be part of it.

Welcome :)

I carry a slippie with a Tact-T cool, it's nice to have something bigger and faster should you "need" it.... Now days most of my "cutting" is done with a Case Med CV Stockman.

Still can't stand the pocket lump, so I carry in my watch pocket

So what knives are incoming? :D

Welcome, for a full baptism. I highly recommend Jackknife's stories. They will make converts out of any one.

God Bless

Aw, I'm not worried, he sounds like a started convert. Won't be long and he will be talking carbon steel and jigged bone, and telling how Jackknifes stories make him remember back when..........welcome aboard.

Welcome home... It's like going to Grandmas house on Christmas day isn't it ;)

Welcome to the world of slip joints! Don't dismiss the fancy materials, many of my favorite slip joints have handles made from stag, ivory, or the like.

I am waiting on my first traditionals minus a buck 110 and swiss army knives. I look forward to just having a friendly little companion:)

I'm actually re-thinking my decision to carry old school slipjoints.

See, I just did a little calculating and have determined that, over the past decade, I have actually spent three minutes and 17 seconds opening my pocketknives. Life's too short to waste that kind of time, guys! I'm thinking I need to go back to one-handers! :D ;)

Hehe Mnblade. You have a great point there! But you knew that :D

Congratulations colonialknifefan. I'm on the fence, I do imagine that one day I will be slippy only.

Opening and closing slipjoints is quality time,
The feling in the hands, the sound for the ears, the sight when you look down at your knife in your hands is a small moment of meditation.

I'll be getting everything but the blue case knife, man am I excited. Going to be an early Christmas!

Wow, you're diving into the deep end of the pool. Good for you. Life is too short to miss out on carrying slippies.

Life didn't become simplier, just more fun. 8 slippies wont be enough. The day you get a new one, you will notice you are already planning on the next one you NEED. I work outside and haven't carried a 1 hander in several years. I make it just fine.

Hey Colonial guy, there's no end to excellent satisfying Traditional Folders; kind of like "1000 is never enough".
GEC, CSC, and others are currently making superb knives.
and Vintage USA knives like Schrade Cut. Co., Miller Bros, New York Knife Co., and lots of others, are still around at 75 years of age or more, and still are among the best made Production folders ever.
and then you can discover the superb Custom made Traditionals which get posted in the Knifemakers For Sale forum.
So many knives, so much pleasure of ownership, be they admired or used.
