Often wondered about this one.

My leuku is 7 1/4" long, 1/8" thick (3 mm).
The puukko is 3 15/16" long & 1/8" thick.

I've wanted a fallkniven for a bit, its just I dont have the money for them.:(

Some knives are too expensive -- at first. Over their lifetime, they save you the expense of replacing inadequate substitutes.

If you can't afford one now, consider saving for it, and holding off on buying cheap knives until then. It doesn't take many cheapies to cost what one decent blade costs.

If you need a big blade for now and have to consider the cost,
look at these from Ragweed Forge -- about 2/3 down the page.

#C-223; This is a big knife designed for butchering big game. It would also work nicely as a general camp knife for food preparation, building shelters, etc. You could consider it the Swedish version of the Leuku. The carbon steel blade is about 8 3/4" long, 1 1/2" wide, and .075" thick. The 5 1/2" hard plastic handle is molded directly on the tang and works well with both average and large hands. The handle is textured for a secure grip even when wet. The knife comes with a sturdy leather belt sheath

#C-173; Slightly smaller, but still a big knife suitable for butchering and all around camp use, it's a bit easier to carry. The carbon steel blade is about 7" long, 1 1/4" wide, and .071" thick. The 5 1/2" hard plastic handle is molded directly on the tang and works well with both average and large hands. The handle is textured for a secure grip even when wet. The knife comes with a sturdy leather belt sheath

I know what you mean, but to be fair I don't class Sog as inadequate, though I can understand what you mean. Its just this leuko, Its alot cheaper, but is still going to do the same job for me. Even though fallkniven makes a great knife, its just not something I can inspire to right away, or ever for that matter. $200 on a knife is alot for me, it almost seem's ludacris for me to even think of spending that much, but, on day I might be able to afford it. As of right now, Im moving in a few months, and thats going to sap most of the money. I have, car payents, visa, power, phone and the whole kit and caboutle, which is the deciding factor in my life. (and purchases)

Certainly a knife to look for in the future. Thank you for the information.:)

I'm certainly not knocking the leuku. But if you are short of cash and need a big knife, the Moras are at least made in Sweden, unlike the Fallknivens :D

One cool thing about the Muela folder is that when closed, its blade sticks out about 3", since it is that much longer than the handle. The sheath is designed accordingly.
This means that for smaller tasks, you don't have to open the knife when you take it out of its sheath. It will just act as a smaller fixed blade.
