My surface grinder arrived this morning so I figured I would post a pic. Its a 1984 Kent KGS-200; it still needs $600 in parts (vfd and chuck) and grinding disks but I'm already giddier than a school girl.:p

I've also been looking at the lathe on the farm for a few weeks. My buddy just bought it from my grandfather a week ago and tossed it into my shop since he works in there with me. :D Not bad for $100. It needs more cutting bits and a new belt, but it runs like a champ. Its from the late 50's-early 60's.

Won't be long till I'll have to get a "tool junkie" membership here. ;)

Get all that stuff set up before the snow buries you. Then you can work through the winter.

Dan, you definitely needed that Gatorade after moving that big boy around!:D
Congratulations! Wish I had one!

Giddier than a school girl? Like with the hands flapping and the prancing around and stuff? I'm glad I missed that.

Nice surface grinder. Better than mine (sigh).

Is that lathe an old 10" south bend? My step father had one and made all kinds of crazy stuff on it.

I think Met is onto something; that looks like a snow country address in NY.
Nothing like project machinery to work on during those winter months when you can't get the pipes thawed.

I have been watching for a surface grinder for a while now; I have three phase power, but haven't come across the right one yet.

A man can't have too much machinery.

Well more or less, with emphasis on the more. :p It came from a plastic molding company so based on that and the great condition it has maybe 80 hours one it. I'm not sure what type of lathe it is, it was a heavy little thing though. I think it can handle 6" round and up to EDIT- 21" long; far more than I'll ever need.

I'm trying to Mete but its already snowed here a few times. :grumpy: I've been meaning to ask you, what part of NY are you in?

Well Troop it was a chore, it was too heavy for the skid steer (what I drive at work) so I had to have my buddy unload it from the truck and put it into the shop with the LoadAll. The hardest part was removing the steel bands. Hehehe :D

Mitch is here and the stove needs filling so back to work!

I'm in the Catskill Mtns. I've been to the Tug Hill area .Hunted there and got cheese in Lowville . For those who don't know that area gets huge amounts of snow . There aren't too many people there but lots of cows to make good NY chedder .One year IIRC they got 450 " of snow !!

Ahh I have some family down in Chester NY. The last I checked was 3 or 4 years ago and the ratio was 2.25 cows per person. As for snow I've heard its gonna be a bad winter this year. :(

Well Patrice as long as being a "real" man doesn't require actually finishing my knives then I'm good. :D

Fred you might want to talk to Jeff Hooper in Rochester NY, he has a small business where he sells surplus machines that businesses don't need. Its a bit far from Ohio but I got my grinder for $300 before shipping.
