Oh dear, Jerry take a look...

Looks like his version at 3/8" thick could be a real contender. Even so, I'm waiting for the Doomsday Fallout Devil's Mistress Battle Knife. DFDMBF for short.;)

If that's what passes for a BM rip-off...then I'm Denzel Washington's twin brother.

I keep seeing "Alan" from "The Hangover" reading the description in his "I was once a lone wolf" voice.

...And 650 bucks for AUS8 steel? What's he do, forge-weld it with Unobtanium or something?

Jack ass.

"BM rip-off" is right. Cuz it sure does look like shit.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahah!!!!! (deep breath)... Whahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon, credit where credit is due---it's D2, not AUS8, so that makes it at least $25.00 more expensive for them to make. ;)

I vote Amy-o beats this guy with empty coors light bottles.

It shouldn't be called a knife. Or a boat anchor. That would insulting to the boat and the anchor.

Some people would sell their dead grandmothers bones to make a buck. I'm willing to bet this A-hole has tried. Sad very sad. :grumpy:

I wonder who did the heat treat on that D2... I'd be willing to bet the Bob Dozier's worst ever (and rejected) heat treated D2 blade is still 10x better than the best heat treated D2 blade in this bunch. :barf:

(Of course Dozier is the KING of D2! :D:thumbup: ...so hopefully this won't be taken as an insult by him to even compare these two's D2 in the same sentence... :o)

Again, to be absolutely fair (as even being fair there's more than enough to laugh at here) I took part in the testing of the original RS6 knives when they were in the pass-around stage, and the HT delivered pretty much what I'd expected 440C to deliver, so from that standpoint of quality of construction, I'd be willing to guess that they (whoever "they" is that did the HT) actually did take the trouble to pull out the chart, find the appropriate temperatures for the steel, etc.

The problem has always been the misrepresentation of the origin of the knives. He is very vocal about how "unfair" it is that people doubt his claims about building in the USA, when he claimed the FIRST ones were made in the USA and then finally admitted, after much grilling, that no, they were Chinese. Maybe this one was made in the US, but why should he be believed now?

Even without that issue, the price is, ummm...interesting. I could cut/grind/build the knife they're showing there in a weekend with the extremely limited setup I have--there is NOTHING even remotely difficult about that design. The one part that is a legitimate expense is the 3/8" D2 (best price I found on a 2X18" piece of flat stock was $160), but $675.00??! The blatant (if poor) pulling from a typical Busse-shape, coupled with having the name of the most famous Busse knife mixed into their new "original" name, and then charging a price that would buy a custom bowie from a master blade smith... Just wow.

.
I'm sorry, but Grinducci wouldn't even admit to making that!!!!

.

But wait theres more... Not only will you get the "Gary Bussey Shattle Mixtress" but we will thorw in not one, but NINE! Ultra Bionic, Turbo Cut-a-tron 9000, XLT Super Duty Laser Sharpened Ninja (yeah I went there) Ballistic Knives as well. Each with a Cordura and cardboard sheath, paid in the USA.

Here he has an "evolution" of the WSK design with a chisel grind, and a sharpened top with serrations. Then after explaining how the top edge is sharp, he says that the reverse curve part of the blade makes a great draw knife...........Um, has he ever done any draw cutting? Where you hold the back edge of the knife and pull the edge (or draw the edge) toward your self?

Having a sharpened top edge and using it as a draw knife = awesome......dude must camp with a chain mail gauntlet!

Neato.

Expect about 4-6 week turn around

Slow boat from china?

He is a notorious liar, so anyone who is dumb enough to believe when he says "hand made in USA, custom knife, etc" deserves their Crappy, Chinese made ripoff-priced knock off.

Lots of laughs to be had browsing his site, as long as you find knockoffs and lies amusing.

This scam is'nt as daft as it sounds in some ways .... consider that he has said the knife is a limited run of 10 .... so the total value of any claim for potential loss of income based on any "passing off" claim or on breach of trademark could be argued to be less than $7000 .... for Jerry to instruct lawyers to "protect" the trademark infingement would cost more than that by a long way .... also if the US is the same as the UK laws ... limiting the sum to $7000 could bring it under the Arbitration Limit whereby unless you can establish difficult points of law need to be argued by qualified lawyers means that each side is expected to bear their own costs ....

So the idea might be ...

Put Jerry's trademark in jeopardy of claims that it is'nt being enforced ...

or ... make an enforcement action more costly than the potential maximum damages ....

Plus the knife has a few attempts to distinguish things with the flat section at the base to the round choil at the base of the ricasso .... and the holes in the pommel are different sizes .... and the holes in the handle for the tube fastners look to be numerically more than Busse use ...

Small points but they could be used to "distinguish" matters on any passing off claim ...

I think it has been mentioned that these might have been done deliberately to have a go at "Busse" and I think that's right ....

Ironically the guy might be expecting as a "businessman" .... it makes more sense for Jerry to buy all 10 to take them of the market .... rather than spend a hell of a lot more litigating the issue ....

Interesting .... combine the slight distinguishing factors .... with the limited advertised number .... and you do have a "pi$$ take" which might have had a bit more thought applied to it ....

And if you don't act now to stop it .... these adverts and knives come back to haunt you as claims of "failure to enforce" .... thus enabling the next model to be an even closer copy ....

Usually on issues like this when the knife is not a limited run you can issue proceedings for damages "to be assessed" as no-one knows the number of knives intended to be made .... and if successful you get your legal costs paid .... or at least you can bankrupt the person/limited company making them if they don't pay.

So I wonder what Jerry will do .... this does look like a deliberate "targeting" of Busse .... personally I would unleash the toughest legal team on him I could ... and I hope Jerry does

Makes me feel like sitting the conversion course for the American Bar ....
sorting out people who try it on like this is good for the whole knife making community ....

My guess is that Jerry does not have to litigate every one of these cases. I bet he usually just makes a phone call, followed by a standard boiler-plate letter from his lawyer, to remind other makers of Busse's trademark protection on the talon hole design.

(Of course Dozier is the KING of D2! :D:thumbup: ...so hopefully this won't be taken as an insult by him to even compare these two's D2 in the same sentence... :o)

No explanation (should be) needed brother. Any Busse fan worth their salt better know who Bob Dozier is:thumbup: AND I agree with your statement 100%!!
