A Katana is a specific type of curved Japanese sword, while Kensei (剣聖) is an honorific title meaning "Sword Saint" for a legendary swordsman, often associated with wielding exceptionally large swords like the Nodachi (or Ōdachi) that are much bigger and heavier than a katana, designed for battlefield impact against cavalry rather than quick, everyday duels.
