I've really been eyeing a Yojimbo 2. I'd have it ordered in a heartbeat if it were in stock.
But as I've been waiting, the Sage 2 has just been calling to me!
Something about that titanium, I dunno it's becoming difficult :D

If a spyderco sparks my interest I normally look at some videos of it then buy it after some careful pondering.

Not the right question, I WANT 99% of the knives they produce. How I decide which to buy is a completely separate issue, usually involving neurotically hunting the web for reviews, comparisons and any negative points I may jot have noticed.

Get what you feel like having, and if you don't end up liking it, sell it. I did that with my Natives and Manix2s.

I've noticed that Spydies have a distinct look in general, but within the companies own distinctness there lies sub groups, and after awhile you will find yourself drawn to a particular style

Me personally, I have a few must haves - plain edge and the ability to be carried tip down. Even some that meet that criteria don't really strike me, but those are a must for me.

I've bought several and now the only one left is the Caly 3.5. I do, however, want to try the Gayle Bradley and the Yojimbo 2.

In the past, if it called to me, I bought it. However, for the past couple years, precious few of the new models, variants, Sprints, and Exclusives have even whispered to me.

Flip through the catalogue....mark some that interest me....slowly pick them off the Exchange when they appear. If I don't like'em, then back for sale they go. Have gone through a good handful and the only one that tends to never leave my possession is the Chokwe.

My only requirement is that it must be legal to carry in Colorado. When a new model comes up, I immediately hop to the SFO and check it out. If I like it, I get it. The sprint runs I buy there, the others I order online.

Started out with FRN Natives and Endura/Delica's. I like the Para's and Manix 2's out of Golden, and the Superleaf and GB would round out the extent of my interest from Spyderco right now. So, I go with what I know I will like, and not so much on experimenting with the cost that goes with it.

Initially based on visual design, then read and watch a lot of reviews. Unless,
it's just so visually compelling or has the pedigree of a favorite custom knife maker-
then no waiting at all, heed the call and spring out the green.

If I happen to let some good Spyderco knives go, I'll let the knife gestate in my
mind for a bit and then usually pick up that same model, again.

My only concern is the lock wear since I keep reading that lockup shifts quickly.
But then I saw that sal commented saying "It has not been a problem, if it is, we'll fix it."
Good enough for me :D

The only "problem" is the combination of impatient people and the normal settling in process of a Walker or Reeve lock. Occasionally that's exacerbated by said impatient person's assumption that repeatedly Spyder-dropping/wrist flicking their knife open is ok.
