Oh my, it's a new Onion...

Unfortunately we cannot produce every knife in our American facility. Our current line up of imports are well done. I'm unsure what the issue is here?

No offense intended - I'm sure the design will be up to Kershaw standards as always, I just have an aversion to most tools that are made in china.

What strikes me as funny, is with all this anti-Chinese knife bias, I'd bet most of us are using computers made with parts from China or actually assembled in China. Yep, my AOC flat screen that I got from Costco says made in China right on the back. :D

What strikes me funny is that it's always Kershaw that gets bashed for having offshore items.

The PC you replied on was made in China , the microwave in your kitchen was made in China , your TV , radio, mp3 players etc etc were all made in China.

There are a ton of such threads so I wont go on.

Yea , Spyderco and Benchmade to name a couple get a free pass... silliness.

It looks like a nice new Kershaw addition , nice price too. I think the scales are not G10 though , they look a little shiny in the pic.

You can make G10 as shiny as you'd like. I think it's just a funny photo.

This isn't a knife I'm likely to buy, but I'm glad to see another affordable Onion on Kershaw's roster.

Actually, I have seen both Spyderco and Benchmade criticized for their China made lines, in these forums and others. Buck took a lot of flack and started repatriating their slipjoint manufacturing to the US. The issue is not just directed at Kershaw.

Put down the pitchforks, people!

...and those have all served me well. The chinese-made woodworking tools and knives that I've owned, however, have consistently let me down. I've had great experience with American, German, English, Swedish, Canadian, and Japanese made tools. I've had awful experiences with Chinese, Pakistani, and Indian made tools. That's all I'm talking about here - I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition!

As for Benchmade and Spyderco getting a pass on their overseas-made stuff: I think there's some truth to that. I rarely see any bad post about knives like the Tenacious or the Vex and I can't figure out why . My experience with the Tenacious has single-handedly made me cringe whenever I see that a knife is made out of "9cr13MoV" :p

I agree with you to an extent. Some of the tools and steel goods from those countries still suck, A LOT. But, overall, they seem capable of meeting the demand for higher quality goods at very competitive price points. Kinda scary, really...

The more I look at it the more tempting the Volt is.
Great steel, large blade, flipper only opening. If things come together well enough it may replace the ZT 0200 as my favorite Kershaw.

Interesting to note, the Knifecenter description of the Rake mentions ZDP-189. I wonder if that was a simple slip up, or if the final material is still in question.
Since the other option would be CPM D-2, I don't really care which they pick, that's going to be an awesome knife.

I've got two of these on order at my local knife shop. Maybe we'll meet up there sometime and compare toys again, Joe.

There was a lot of outrage when the Tenacious came out in the Spyderco forum. There is a lot of bad-mouthing about the Taiwan made line as well. It is a very common complaint in the knife community, right now, and certainly not any kind of Kershaw discrimination.
