OH NO Commander is all new for 2002

Question for John on the Commander's new spacer: You mentioned that the spacer has been lengthened. My question is: has the new spacer also been made thicker (to make the handle feel thicker without changing the thickness of the G-10 scales or Ti liners)? Thanks.

I think the use of wide metal posts instead of the G-10 spacers could achieve the desired handle thickness that some of us yearn for and make the knife easier to clean. My humble two cents.

I wish I still had mine to measure for ya, but it literally got bought out of my pocket at the SHOT Show. A German gentleman really wanted to take a Commander home with him. :D

Normally I would say "Not to my knowledge", but I will say that it didn't "feel" any thicker then a regular 1999+ Commander. However, one change I don't think I mentioned before is that the washers are actually thicker . . . not by much. So there is entirely a possiblity that the Third Generation Commanders could be thicker slightly.

I should have a new one soon, I'll report back.

Anyone have them in stock yet?

I have e-mailed most of the popular online retailers, no dice.

If you find someone let us know.

I'm just guessing here but I think most dealers will want to sell the old Commanders before the new ones.

John, thanks for the reply on the new spacer. P.S. With the added weight of his new Commander on his right side and his "lightened" wallet on his left side, that German gentleman must have walked away looking pretty awkward leaning way to the right. And, with a smile on his face no doubt.

NIB, some dealers may have to discount the "older" Commanders since I believe that most forum guys will now prefer to buy the newest version.
