I have carried a peanut for a long time now and it really had become a part of me almost. I didnt always use it but it was always there, in case i need it. I carried it in the watch pocket of my jeans. I work maintenance for the city and was working over a open manhole. I needed to strip back some wire on a milltronics cable. So out came the trusty peanut, I even stepped a little ways away from the manhole and was on a knee starting to strip the wire back. I layed it down on the ground and another one of the guys hit the manhole lid which in turn hit the peanut and knocked it right down the hole! I couldnt believe it and just sit there stunned for a few minutes. I dont have the money to pick one up right now as tight as everything is so it looks like I have to wait a couple of weeks and I just feel naked without my peanut......(sigh)......anyone else ever had a similar experience. Man it is like losing an old friend!

Sorry to hear! I know the feeling of losing something. If you want, I have a single bladed Old Timer peanut you can have for free.

Sounds terrible hopefully things work out for a replacement. Was there no way to go after it?

Sooo, it's not really lost, you know where it's at, right?

Sorry, couldn't resist. It's one thing when a knife goes missing, but to see it doomed right before your eyes is harder. I only know one person that happened to, my friend Wayne. HIs Buck 309 went off the fishing/crabbing pier at Solomans Island, and he took off his clothes and went in after it. Came up with it after a few ties.

My condolences on a buddy lost in action.

Carl.

It fell into a sewer manhole that had quite a bit of flow moving through it, I did grab a magnet and trowled the bottom looking for it but to no avail. Man that thing had a beautiful patina too, dang!

Just imagine the stories you could tell if you went in after it :D Just kidding.

Hope you get a replacement soon.

Yes, and no. It's awful watching it happen, but you're spared looking for it for the rest of your life, checking and rechecking every possible place, having lightbulb moments in the middle of other things and investigating again, etc.-- that haunted, niggling ache that keeps you looking and worst of all (if it truly is Gone), hoping.

My condolences as well.

So, it's a "peenut" now? Sorry; couldn't resist the pun...

Man, that's a bad day at work. Sorry about your knife.

Mine is lost too, it fell away from my pocket on a taxi, at the monent I called the central and give the number of the cab but they can't contact. I called again the next day but nothing so I'm without it
The little thing seems to get lost easily maybe to conquer new territories.
Sorry mate

Sorry to hear, I know the feeling well. When the time comes, you'll be able to look forward to the replacement. A new companion. On a lighter side, just imagine the patina that guy has now!

We find old coins and rings and stuff all the time, so it might show up one day but probably not. We actually found a class ring a few years ago and put it in the paper because it had initials and everything on it. The next day a woman called and told us everything that was engraved on the ring and said it had been gone for over 7 years. She just couldnt believe it and was so happy!

Sorry to hear that...

I hope, you can get a replacement soon. Or better finding your old one again.

Kind regards
Andi

I've got 2 knives MIA, not Peanuts but 2 knives almost the same. Queen Cutlery Jack No.2 and the Forum 08 knife in stag, same knife frame but 3 blades instead of two. Why these two I don't know!! Keep searching, went through the cars, everywhere, it's since this flood in the kitchen and injured knee in May. Bad......

Bummer! That is a heart breaker and no mistake.

I bought a gun lanyard to avoid the exact same situation. I take canoe trips, and fish, with some of my nice knives, and use the gun lanyard on the expensive ones.

Now, however, I can't find the stinking gun lanyard, so my last canoe trip, I had to leave the nice knives and gun in the bag that was strapped to the canoe.

I carried an inexpensive sodbuster (Ag Russel) in my velcro pocket on my fishing shirt.

That's a bummer sorry to hear that, I would be saddened if I lost my peanut it was a gift and has lots of sentimental value, I've lost a few knives, but the worst feeling was losing my wedding ring on my honeymoon in the ocean swimming in Jamaica, I was extremely persistent and somehow found it.

You are a lucky man, Pete. I lost my wedding ring to the Atlantic but never found it.

I too would be sad to lose my peanut, not any sentimental value, but it is a fine knife that I enjoy using.

Sorry for you loss, and I hope you can replace it soon.

I lost a brand new 22 oz. hammer to a lake we were working on a whole bunch of years ago. We were tearing out old boat slips at a marina before we built new ones. Missed a board I was trying to pound loose and the force of my swing took it right out of my hand and into 30' of water. I searched with a heavy magnet we used to retrieve lost tools in the water, to no avail. I had purchased it the day before, and used it all of about 2 hours before it went diving.

The scary part was it sailed right past a buddy's head. A couple inches to the left and he would have been seriously hurt.

I like a 22oz hammer, it's a good persuasion tool,I wouldn't want to catch on the noodle though, I did catch a 4' wood and brass level on the head, that did not feel good, but these things happen.
