oh no - i had to send my SIFU back today!!!!

was messing around with it last night and it CLOSED on me - failure to lock open!! after applying a band aid, lol, i found that ya could lock it open, hold the rear part of the knife handle(so ya dont get cut again!!) and BARELY tap it against the carpeted floor, it would close up - not good - anyway called 1sks , who told me to call REKAT, who told me to ship it to bob brothers, in washington, for repairs - they were real cool and are paying for shipping, etc - but what a drag!! i've bonded w/that darned knife, and i feel naked w/out it - hopefully it will be back soon, christina at REKAT said she would talk to bob, and he would fix ASAP and get it back to me ASAP - she said he could fix it in a very short time, like an hour or so - anyway hope to get it back soon - has anyone else had probs w/the lock?? i dont know if it came that way (had for 2 wks)and i just didnt notice, or somehow got out of wack? anyway will let ya'll know how this turns out.......

Sorry to hear about your knife. I sent in my Carnivore to Bob Brothers to fix my lock (My FAULT I caused the problem) and he put it back in the mail the same day after he repaired it. I have nothing but praise for Bob and Christina.

I've heard of very few rolling lock failures, and I've heard great things abut REKAT's customer service. My Sifu is holding up just fine, but if it ever had a problem I know it would be taken care of. I hope you get your knife back soon.

Vet95LT1,

Where in Washington did you send your SIFU to Bob Brothers at? I thought that REKAT is located in Idaho...

BTW, other than the lock "problem" what is your general impression of the SIFU? (I have one "on the way" from a trade, but I have never seen one "in-person".).

Dann, REKAT may be in Idaho, but Bob is in Montana. That is if I can remember his address correctly. I sent my Carnivore directly to him for repair also.

thats the adddress she gave me last wed. hopefully he has it lol.....

and to answer the question about how i like the SIFU, I've got a lot of knives - spyderco matriarch and centofante, CR seb, emeson CQC7, CRKT kasper, MOD razorback, several cold steel, Benchmade AFCK and Stryker, and a few more and the SIFU is head and shoulders above the rest for EDC, IMHO anyway - carry it all the time, not hard to carry/conceal, just am very happy w/it other than the lock probs - and hopefully bob will take care of that ......

if ya got 1 on order ya wont be dissappointed when ya get it i promise ..

will let ya'll know when i get it back, soon i hope

I'm glad to see that you finally have yours' back "home", as I've been having quite alot of fun playing with MY new Sifu.

BTW...I took a file and sandpaper to the G-10 scales, rounding-off ALL of the SHARP edges, and that really makes the Sifu feel GREAT in my hand.

What happened with the rolling lock? Was the pin just not rolling into position to block the blade from coming back? Before you had the lock fixed, how far forward was the release button -- (middle of the space or forward of middle)?

I'm just curious because I recently bought a Sifu, and I'd like to know what to expect .... I'm wacking the spine lightly against the mouse pad right now.

well let me try to explain - NOW the rolling lock button (rlb) goes all the way forward when the blade is open, and it has some resistance (?) in the last few degrees of opening it - before the rlb was going about 7/8 of the way forward upon opening - the back side if the blade, the rounded part w/notch is shiny now, wasnt before - i guess the deal that engages the locking notch (?) was not going all the way into battery, and it would fail to lock - be carefull wacking it, keep your hands out of the way i cut the piss outta myself, just now healing lol - but anyway seems to lock up right now, much more solid than before -no blade play, zero nada-none- before i bought the knife i emailed a few people who had SIFU's, and it seem like some of them come from the factory not adjusted correctly, and while on a smaller blade (ie carny, hobbit, etc) and flicking it open may not affect them the SIFU blade is long enough w/enough inertia that it wacks the locking deal outta alignment, or something - mine did lock when i first got it, but never locked as good as now, and the rlb was not going all the way forward - remeber this is all supposition on my part, or a guess - they never said what the deal was - BUT everyone i talked too, the 1's who had had locking probs, they all said once bob brothers hand set it, there were no more problems, ever - so maybe i got lucky in a way, and now hopefully will never have to worry again about this w/my SIFU - i really like the knife - and bob also touched up the edge it is kick butt sharp now believe me - anyway i'm really glad to get it back i carry it all the time.........hope ya can understand what i'm talking about, heck i should be able to do better than this, hell i got an A in technical writing lol
