Oh Nuts

I don't get it. I have lost a few knives in my lifetime and I can see that I'm not the only one. Where the heck do they go? Has anyone ever found a knife? I know I sure haven't. I think its like the long lost land where all the elephants go to die. Hey Maybe That's Where All The Peanuts Are!!!! In the Elephant Grave Yard!!

They go with the socks, a knife gets in a sock, and then they take off. :D

I've found six over the last 30 years. (Nope. Haven't seen your Peanut. Sorry.) Four of those were SAK's, and two of those four were the little keychain Classics.

I've only been able to return two in all that time, when I could find out who they belonged to.

I found a SAK Huntsman in 1991, couldn't locate the owner, so I carried it for 15 years. Finally decided to retire it, and buy a new one; then I found ANOTHER Huntsman on the road last April. (What are the odds of that?!) Couldn't locate that owner either, so I have a new one, that I've carried for awhile now. It gets lots of use these days.

thx - cpr

*OK IT'S OFFICIAL* I bought another little red peanut. This is now a notice that my old peanut can show up at home again. He has someone to go nuts with. By the way nice little knife.

Good goin'! Now, just to be on the safe side, order ANOTHER Peanut! That way, you will lose neither of your "new knives" and your "old knife" will show up even sooner just so it can embarass you!;)

WHAT! Hey you can forget about that one. This Case Peanut can snuggle up to the Schrade Peanut. Jeez I'm goin Nuts.

Whats worse than loosing a factory knife is loosing a custom hand made one, which of course I did a couple winters ago in the Walmart parking lot,I forgot it was on my lap (i had opened some letters) an left it there.I drove to Walmart got out an thought I heard something hit the payment, but it was snow covered an I think it went under an adjacent car, any way it was gone ,so I hoped some body would find it an give it a nice home. It was one of mine I made an started carring it to see how the steel holds up. I replaced it with one of my two bladed Saddlehorns in ATS-34 an still have it so far. Joe Allen

I know most makers can't afford to carry their own knives, Joe, but it's a pretty good deal that at least you can make yourself another knife if you happen to misplace one. ;)

Blues, when I first started making slip joints,I gave away quite a few, then it dawned on me , why havent I gave myself one to see how it holds up to every day use, so I found a flaw in a two bladed saddlehorn an have carried it so far, every few months I touch up the edge in a minute or so an it's good for few more months.Plus you can show people what you do an what a custom knife looks like an educate them to our thing. I love it. Joe

Says a little something about your blades that they only need a touch-up every few months. Good stuff, Joe.
