I can't believe this happened. AEB-L HT'ed at Peters to 61 RC. Dropped on concrete floor and snap. I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but is there any hope of saving this, or is it scrap metal?

***UPDATE*** Since my original post I took Nathan up on his offer to weld up the tang. He did a great job and had the blade back on my doorstep in a few days. Thanks again Nathan, it's makers like you that share their time and expertise that make this such a great forum.

Below is the finished knife, this being my first attempt at a WA Handle, I think it turned out very nice. I feel like this one went from "Oh Snap" to "Holy C*@p".

Do you have TIG? Why not weld it and use it as a home/test blade? Or for destructive/instructive testing...

Thats why i never cared for those stick tangs. They always seemed extra fragile to me.

My friend does this all the time. He makes the tang too thin and drills out most of the steel. Of course it breaks.

Just weld it back together. You will be fine. The blade will not be affected.

yup, that's a job for tig. send me a PM, I'll fix it

That's a very nice offer by Nathan. I'd suggest filling the other holes with some weld and using smaller pins.

Yes, it was very cool of Nathan to fix it for me and thanks for the positive comments!
