I'll rehash the response I usually give when someone says this.I also noticed that Breavis is a fairly new member here and may not have understood dericdesmond's sarcasm. I did when I read the first two posts. I also remember reading Boss Hog's thread about being nice. I think we should talk more about the OP's topic also. That being said, I couldn't agree more with you Breavis....I think it's crazy...and feel for the guy who dumps the cash on it.
Why feel sorry for the buyer? Do you really think someone is going to get tricked into spending $1200 on a knife? Stop worrying about how other people spend their money. Just because you don't think an item is worth X amount of dollars doesn't mean someone else feels the same. It might be a steal at $1200 to someone else. If it's not worth $1200 to anyone, it won't sell. If a buyer has $1200 to throw at a knife not knowing its "overpriced", they probably have money to burn. Don't feel sorry for them.
