OH Yeah, Lots Of NO ... be careful trying to crink a badly off center blade

Was "Opps!" or something a might stronger uttered?

Sad to see that. :(

Can one of your welder friends or a acquaintences TIG/MIG it for you?

Can you you use the scales on another knife?....

Excellent Idea and I've considered it.
I have another Nontron slip joint, same pattern but in Boxwood, on the way to me and expect sometime this week.
Now how well the Oak might replace the Boxwood or if I even really want to try is a whole 'nother thing.
Right now, repurpose of the Oak is definitely not a high priority.

Since the covers are hard to get, why not get a donor knife and switch the blades?

My hope is to simply one day run across another "Poulvere" Nontron ... it could happen
... and leave it the heck alone, with no "massaging" the blade D'OH
Other than that, there is no sentimental or priceless intrinsic value to the knife. Just a hard lesson learned. Cost me a knife.

I just contacted Nontron France directly without disclosing my indiscretion and asked if they ship to the U.S. and possibility of purchasing a "Nontron Violin Pocket Knife - Chateau Poulvere Oak Barrel".
It's night time in France and am awaiting email reply.
Don't think they will ship to the U.S. though. Probably because there is a Nontron Importer here. The importer is out of stock. I'd purchased their last one. Maybe they will get more in. The knives are still available in France.

Was there a functional issue with the knife, or did the off center blade just bother you ?

No functional issue what so ever. Nor were there functional issues with any other knife whose blades I've centered to this point (half a dozen or so maybe), without consequence.

Ouch, that sucks. Been there, done that, got a couple T-shirts! The worst part, as someone else mentioned, is when you do it to someone else's knife. To date(thank goodness), I've only ruined one customer's knife. For that main reason, I don't do that kind of work on others' knives. You just don't know how that blade and tang was heat-treated/tempered.

You have my sympathies.

I messed with the bull and got the horns this time :D

GREAT NEWS is that I have another one coming to me directly from Nontron in France via FedEx. I just spoke with them, so am awaiting email of shipping confirmation and tracking. WOooHOoo :)

And for anyone wondering what the inside of a pocket knife blade looks like ... I looked so you don't have to :D

Not only is the Nontron blade stamp deep, but there looks to have been a small void in the metal near the top of the blade
The blade fractured along the Nontron Logo Stamp and through that possible small hollow area in the metal
Nontron is currently owned by Forge de Laguiole and they do forge their own proprietary T12 steel

Good News!! I hope they contributed to the cost!!
My indiscretion wasn't discussed. I had to bite the bullet
After all, it wasn't in any way shape form or fashion their fault I chose to "beat" on the blade
Would be considered abuse in most quarters I think

Although I consider the Oak Wine Barrel angle, somewhat of a "premium novelty", I do like the pattern and size enough to replace
... apparently at all costs :)
