So a buddy of mine mentions that he has an industrial water jet machine. So I told h about the disk grinder plans posted up here and he said " send them to me". Then he drops this off. I owe somebody a knife...

That's awesome!! I have been looking into getting some parts done by water jet, it looks like it's a great way to go. And knives always make good thank you presents:)

it's pretty wild how accurate it is, how clean the parts come out. I believe he said it can cut through 4" of steel. this one is a little tweaked from the original. the original plan was for 3/16" steel, this was made from 1/4" so he had to widen the tab slots a bit, but it is so clean cutting, you can't tell he redid the slots.

Yes! I thanked him for posting them at the time, because it's so cool that he took the time. I didn't think I would have an opportunity to utilize them so soon.

I built one of these myself, cut the parts out of 1/4" plate on a CNC plasma table. Mine works like a charm!

I do too. Kind of like a new bike on a snowy Christmas, since I won't have a motor for it until I swap my belt grinder to VFD in the spring.

Honestly I wouldn't use the disc unless it was connected to a VFD. Having variable speed and reverse is highly beneficial

What ?
Who What Where?

I should clarify. He has the machine at work and they used this as a learning piece, since they just got it. Sadly, (for me) he is leaving that gig. Guess I have to keep cutting blanks on the band saw. If you want one, just check local fabrication places. I bet they would do this fairly cheap. Make sure they use 3/16" plate, or you will have the issue I did with the tabs being too wide.

It was worth the shot, I was hoping to help some one instead of a local shop but thanks I'll look into it

and table height being centered on the wheel.

I hadn't thought of that. Do you think it will be a big issue using 1/4"? I'm thinking it would only be 1/16" high.
