Ohh, Master Hunter you made my day.

The Cold Steel MH in carbon V combines ease of sharpening with just about a perfect 'all-rounder' blade for the hunter or outdoorsman. The blade differs from the stainless model in the sense that it tapers down to a fine point (great for skinning and slicing chores) but has a rigid spine. CS has a winner here even though they've had to endure a lot of bashing for luke warm products. I'd rate this blade up with the best of them in the 5 inch class.

Congrats on your CS MH Fonly!

The CS Master Hunter has been my favorite and #1 go-to knife for years now. I also have an F1, but I prefer the MH over it. The F1 has a slighty shorter blade, a little more of a point, and the handle is more oval and made of a harder material. I have found the MH to be the perfect size and shape for almost everything I do with a knife in that size range. The handle is comfy for me, and the Carbon V really takes an edge and holds it. I'm sure it'll become one of your favorites Fonly!

The CS San Mai III isn't worth the extra money .I think it has a poor choice of steels for the $.

Yeah... I sort of want to get the stainless model just to compare it to my carbon-v, but I can't justify the $$ either. If I wanted stainless I think I would get a Fallkniven.

mete, what can you tell us about SK-5, that Cold Steel is "supposedly" going to have some of their knives made from now?

You know, I havent even used it to cut anything more than some wood and a beef roast, and its my favorite :D. I wanted to cut the roast to get some juices for a nice patina, it did work a bit on the forward 1/3 of the blade, looks nice.

I like it. Reminds me of my F1. Let us know how it works out!

I am a liitle suprised to see this. I have always liked my MH and my SRK but don't really care to get into discussions on the company like this always seems to lead to. If I am correct the Carbon V ones are not being made anymore as they were made by Camillus. The San Mai 3 ones are not available yet to my knowledge and the stainless ones available now are the old AUS 8 if memory serves. I have been using a stainless MH for years and have zero complaints. I feel they are well worth the money. I greatly prefer knives that are bevelled all the way to the spine like the MH and I prefer their handle size and feel to just about all other knives in this class..

Me too, Like I said, this was the first knife I was ever going to get, but the store was out of stock, so I bought a Gerber Harsey Hunter. Then about a year later, I got it in my head that I wanted the MH again, so I ordered one, and waited, and waited, and waited, Finally I called the store an they said it haden't shipped because the were out of stock again, and they wouldn't have any untill this march(last march ;))
So, when I went to get it in march, they didnt have it again and I said S%#T.

Then I found one again, and now I have it. I think I have the last one in canada :p :D
