Hi Sarge
You know Sarge, I am starting to feel the same way. Althought I would prefer to produce my own stuff instead of just fixing things. Would give me a chance to actually endulge myself in some simple work which can give a person some harmony in the soul.
Patience with me Sarge. I am still on the lanolin treatment.
This is the first time I am trying to do anything with a horn handle. Never applied lanolin on anything before. And now I have a feeling I that I am not getting something right. My handle has stood fully encoated in a layer of lanolin for almost 24 hours now but it doesn't seem to have sucked in so much.
Perhaps I have overdone it a little bit with the lanolin? I guess I shouldn't expect it to suck in any enormous amounts. Should I just clean off the rest and end the lanolin treatment for this time?
So I haven't really started doing anything with the buttcap you see. But I am going to do the sap approach just for a try, as soon as possible. Have to give myself a day in the forest for that I think. I am going to study the links provided by Ddean first.

I also get an opportunity to ply the khukuri repair skills I've learned from the good folks here in the Cantina. As an imperfect creature, there's no way I can fix all of my own faults. But, with some elbow grease and a few inexpensive materials, I can make this little khukuri flawless. Absolutely delightful.![]()

How'd that buttcap turn out Eik? My little 12" AK blem is now tight as a drum, pristine in appearance, hair popping sharp, and hanging on my rigger's belt under my BDU shirt, just waiting to be "called to active duty"
