Oil quench D2?

Can a guy heat to non magnetic and oil quench D2? I did a search but did not find anything too detailed on D2. This is my first grind using this steel. Thanks everyone.
 
I guess a little more research shows air hardening. Now to only get the fire at 1875 and keeping it there for 20 minutes.
 
Well since you answered your own question, let me add....you can.....but would you want to? ;)

This is , like any airhardening steel, is a complex alloy and requires precise time and temperature control .It's not for beginners .
 
I will just send this one out for heat treat once it is finish ground and find something to do with the rest of it. Thanks for the data sheets and the responses.
 
You should get William Brysons book Heat Treatment,Selection,and Application of Tool Steels. Anything you need to know about heat treat is in that book.
