hi, I was wondering how long you wait to oil fixed knives, folding knives, and multitools after washing them down with soap and water.after the initial towel dry, do you need to let them air dry, such as on a mt where there is a lot of nooks and crannies that you cant dry by hand? also, is liquid wrench dry lube a water displacer?

I suggest flushing them thoroughly with WD 40 immediately after drying.

I see someone already answered. :)

Some use compressed air and then whatever lube.

Some of my knives I get hot under tap water and shake. No rust.

Wash (with dish soap) & rinse the knife using HOT water (whatever your hands will tolerate; for me, that's usually ~120F or so). That'll heat up the internals of the knife, which makes moisture evaporate off a lot faster. Use paper towels/clean rags to wipe down what you can reach. Then, as previously suggested, a little WD-40 will displace any moisture that might remain, and provide a little lube & rust protection as well.

That's how I've been doing it.
