I read somewhere on BF a while back that omega springs breaking could be attributed to rusting of the springs, that being said I have been attempting to oil the springs by putting a drop of 3-in-1 under the axis stud where you can see the top of the spring.

Will the oil spread out across the entire surface of the spring or only where I directly placed the drop of oil?

Also if there is a better way to apply the oil let me know!

That will probably work fine.
I prefer to use WD 40 for hidden areas. It penetrates well and offers good rust protection.
