Have you guys tried Zippo Lighter fluid and or acetone yet? This stuff works wonders on oil. Use a tooth brush and Scrub a bit. Should come right off.
If you have some brake or choke cleaner in the garage that could work in a pinch too.
No need to risk it. Return the thing and buy from a supporting dealer here.On mine, it sure seems to be under the finish. I gently rubbed it with rubbing alcohol, and that didn't do anything. As far as returning it, I planned to EDC this beauty, so it's not a complete turnoff. I'm just left wondering if the blade steel integrity is comprised.
Unless he means another KC...Knife Center is a supporting dealer here.No need to risk it. Return the thing and buy from a supporting dealer here.
I'm pretty sure most dealers are sold out already. But yea that would have been idea. Honestly cleaning it is not going to hurt it at all.No need to risk it. Return the thing and buy from a supporting dealer here.
True. I thought it was the Op who bought it from Amazon. My mistake. The point remains the same though. You shouldn't get a new knife with undisclosed staining. I'd return it no matter the rarity. It's a production knife. They will be available from sources for quite a while if you know where to look and are diligent.Unless he means another KC...Knife Center is a supporting dealer here.

Yes, I know it is discontinued. They will be popping up on the secondary market though. If damaged heat treat is a concern then send it back. Not worth it. If you are for sure keeping it and willing to continuing to mess with it I would hit it with a bit of flitz. On mine, it sure seems to be under the finish. The production run is over. I've searched all of North America and haven't found 1. And yes OP got the knife from Amazon, I purchased mine from Knife Center. As far as the marking, I'm not even sure it's caked on oil as it looks and feels like it's under or part of the finish. I may try acetone.
