OK...besides the Bald1, who else is a fan of the Bucklock models?

I was just reading Bob's (Bald1) post in the custom shop thread where he mentioned the Buck 532 as his favorite folder. Well it's my favorite folder, too and I was wondering who else was a fan of this model. I have all three Bucklocks (531, 532 & 535). The file work is incredible and I love the blade geometry. The knife is just the right size for all my daily tasks and they're just downright beautiful knives.

I have the 532 5 different handle materials and I find myself staring at them all the time.

Any other Bucklock fans? I would love to hear what you think about it. Which is your favorite model (531, 532 or 535) and why.

PS...Buck folks...if you're reading this thread: Bring back the Bucklock!

Thanks,

Greg,

I'd forgotten you had that 535. Yup, the Bucklock series is I think their best. Jeff Hubbard had mentioned that Joe (our new moderator, head of Quality, and coordinator for the Buck Collectors Club) is also quite a fan.

I was going through the 1995 Buck catalog yesterday. Beautifully printed with tissue paper overlaying the covers as a form of protection. Inside there were several special 532s. One was for a pro rodeo group. The other two were limited editions by David Whitehorse (It's late so if I've conjured up the wrong name for this gent, accept my apologies). All very nice.

I get the impression that the 532 still sees production albiet for special runs for distributors, companies or associations. Only with the recent Master Series and the picked bone Limited Edition have we seen a more public offering.

I sure hope that Pete's Custom Shoppe is a success and that it prompts an expansion to include the Bucklock series (or at least the 532

)!!!

I'm with Greg. Anyone else feel as strongly?????

Well, I've been TRYING to appreciate them, it just hasn't worked out yet. I actually ordered the Master version back in the spring, when it didn't come thru, I asked Jeff about it here. That is when he said the series was discontinued. After that, when some became available, my disposable income was spent on another item already. Things have not come together for me on this model, that's for sure. But I have a feeling that one will come around sooner or later, probably in the Custom Shoppe. But I like the mid-lock and the size and style alot. I hadn't seen the two blade version before, that is neat. Too bad I didn't pay more attention to the website and catalog, THAT won't happen again!!

I recently purchased a Masters Series 532 and find it to be the best folder that Buck has ever produced. I also have the older two bladed model in the 500 series. I can only hope that I will be able to order a 532 from the custom shop soon. Does anyone know where I can find a Master Series model 110?

Dalerich,

Unfortunately I don't think there are any left out there. Best bet is to check with Howard at the KnifeCenter. He's the last one I know who had any and that was several months ago.

But there is hope! The Master Series featured BG-42 steel and a nice set of scales. The newly open Pete's Custom Knife Shoppe is Buck's avenue for consumers to obtain customized 110s. There is a very wide choice of blade and handle materials as well as other nice touches. So you can acquire a 110 with the benefits that the Master Series afforded plus some

! Check out Buck's web site... the Custom Shoppe is linked there.

Bob is right. At Pete's one can make a knife very similar to the Master Series 110. Just use BG-42 for the steel, ni si bolsters and the green diamond wood scales and you have a very similar knife.

Bob, are those green scales at Pete's diamond wood?

Greg,

I honestly don't know. Hopefully Pete Q. or Joe will clarify. I zeroed in on the exotics when I ordered... oh well.

Well just for the record, i am a fan of the Bucklocks. I have one of every one of them including when they used the Sawby locking mechanism. The 532 is my favorite because i can carry it in my pocket. I am not a fan of any knife carried on my belt because they get stuck on brush when i am hunting.
I bet i have talked to a zillion or so folks that liked the Bucklocks, I know the reason we discontinued them is because the sales were slow but that does not make any sense.

Hi Joe,
You're right about the 532....tell Mr. Buck he has my vote if he wants to bring them back.

It is a very practical and beautiful knife and IMHO about the best pocket knife there is.

Joe,

You've obviously read where an number of us have suggested adding the 532 to the line up at Pete's Custom Knife Shoppe. The notion of a 532 with premium steels and exotic handles is hard to ignore.

Greg,

Remember way back when, when I talked you into your first 532
smile.gif
??? And later how I teased you about your using the slick fold over belt sheath instead of carrying it it your pocket? Are you now admitting to being converted to a 532 pocket carry <hehehehe>? Rules of engagement are the knife only, nothing else in the pocket, to avoid scratching the nickle-silver bolsters.

Obviously I'm with Joe. I not only feel it to be the best folder Buck has, but an outstanding gentleman's pocket knife!

Bob,
Yes it is true that you are the person to introduce me to the 532....and questioned me when I originally picked the 501 over the 532 master series. I repented quickly. They're great knives as you will soon see again.

Actually, truth be told, I still carry my 532's in a sheath but I was able to get another 532JB as a user and I am a lot less concern where that knife goes....so yes, it does see its share of pocket carry.

You have to admit, those 532 sheaths are pretty good. What I like is that Buck took the time to put a felt liner over the button snap to prevent scratching the knife. I wish all companies would do that.

Regards,

For what its worth, it would be an easy sell to convince Chuck Buck to bring back the series, he loved them too! Most everybody around here did, thats why we keep seeing the 532 pop up on a special project every now and then.
I will bug Pete about adding it to the custom shop. How hard can it be? ;-)
I am sure it would be easier for me than getting those goofy icons down here in my text! (Wheres my 11 year old son when i need him?!)

Someone was asking about a 110MS. I have one in stock, also a 501MS.

The 110MS has found a new home. Thanks Dale. It goes out in the morning.
