OK bourbon, to get started.

Wild Turkey 101 is hard to beat. I've tried Rare Breed and Kentucky Spirit and I think I'd take 101 over both. They are very expensive for not much difference IMO.

I won't say I'm some kind of bourbon expert, and I've only tried a few other brands. Knob Creek is good but pricey; it's my primary alternative to Turkey and IMO it's not as good. But sometimes I have difficulty ordering in a bar a liquor I have a bottle of at home ;)

Makers Mark, Jim Beam, and some well marques ... are far off the Turkey standard. Bourbons have spoiled me for scotch ... when I drink scotch it takes like a weak bourbon to me. lol

Oh yeah, and Turkey was Hunter S Thompson's drink ...

I gotta throw in knobb creek. I used to like Maker's Mk (still do), but knobb creek isn't so sweet--I just like it better...

You find Marker's Mark to be sweeter than Knob Creek? Interesting. My palate is just the reverse.

My preference leans toward the single malt Irish and Scotch whisk(e)y but I really do like Wild Turkey 101 when it comes to bourbon. While I can't get into bourbon that much, I'll still take some Wild Turkey or Maker's Mark over blended canadian or scotch varieties any day of the week.
