Ok but seriously. Why buy a 7?

This guy did some great work with his, and used it exclusively for a very long time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKV4j8-G1Nc

My advice, and possibly the best reason to get a 7: Because you can. If you are in the position where getting one isn't going to break the bank, get it. At worst, you get a knife that is kinda inbetween two of your favorites, at best is you newest love. There is no downside there. Don't like the 7? Give it the missus, and tell her you want her to get involved with your outdoors time in a bigger way. Or keep it as a loaner knife for all your friends that don't know crap about knives. Whichever way you look at it, the purchase of a Becker Knife is an investment, and it won't depreciate in value over time. Go out there and get you one. And vote for Wayne Whittaker. He still needs your support!

If I could only have one Becker, it would be the BK7. It is the most versatile of the bunch if you ask me.

I don't know about only being able to have one. I mean seriously.......I'm gonna need at least; 17 of them. Ya know; one of each. :D

When I was getting my first Becker I watched this and then the next day bought the blade then a week later did about his mod.

I have come by this question a few times and all I can say is, "I love my 7." the 2 is rapidly becoming my favorite and I think the only thing holding it back is the sheath. Haven't had the luxury of a 9 or 10 yet but I still think I'd hold the 7 in good esteem. One thing I will say is it'll be a lot smaller than you'd expect. But every Becker does twice the work of its size.

I love my 77. More than the 2, actually(but I just got the 2, so maybe in time...). But if you're going to get a 5, You probably don't need a 7(Who said anything about "need?" :D) as the blades are similar in length. I think the 5 might be more useful at camp due to the full flat grind and extra belly.

You said it yourself, though, you haven't held it. When you do, you'll be like, "Ahhh, so THIS is why everyone likes it so much."

I'll comment 'out of school' here..

If I'm not mistaken the 7 was designed as a combat knife.. thus fits the bill perfectly between the 2 and the 9..

besides the '10' is sooooo much like the the 2 why would anyone need a knife so close in comparison?? because you can and you want to.. that's all the reason why most of us buy knives...

in reality you only 'need' one knife.. one gun, one this one that.. but no reality check is needed..

tell you what, if you want I'll send you one and you can play with it for a bit.. its completely stock other then the coating wore and got stripped...

let me know..

Becker knives in general seem to have their own niche. They're hard use knives, and from what I've seen, the community here not only supports that ideal, but prides themselves on just what the knife can do for the price. I know that I had a different mentality breaking in my BK-9 than I did my kershaw leek. I went from OH YEAH, THERE'S SOME COATING WEARING OFF, LOOKS GOOD! (then I thought, how to sharpen, should I strip, can I mod? What can I say... ADHD is a bitch)

From that, to 'there might me a nick in my leek... Can I take it out without taking too much metal off.' The mentality behind a BK&T knife was so much different than other knives I own.

That said, what cant he 7 do for you? Nothing the 10, 2 and 9 can't. You're not getting any new abilities. It doesn't come with a death ray or a solar powered washer and dryer... But if you want to carry one knife that can chop almost as well as the 9, do almost as good in 'cut-through-a-tank-ability' as the 2, and have the precision of the 10 (THUMB RAMP) The 7 is a good middle ground.
