Ok I just got 2 Serial # Benchmade Mini-Griptilians. One is in S30V and the other in M390. I am torn about carrying either and using them? What do you guys do?

If I want to use that knife, serial never stopped me. Otherwise, I do have a few knives that I never had time to use, with and w/o serials.

I do all the time. Here is the latest. I'm trying to make other collectors knives more valuable!;)

:D I'm a tilesetter. It's tar from the waterproofing paper that we use in showers and walls. I'm a knife guy so I don't use razorknives. That is after one shower .. take it home and soak it in WD-40 and strop it!

Man I love it when I hear that! I am one of those horrible NIB knife horders. My Sebenza 21 is plenty fine as an EDC, I don't need to use my NIB 90's Benchmades.

Nah, I don't use or carry anything that can't be easily replaced.

I'm more of an Accumulator than a User. ;)

I frequent a knife store in town that doesn't really sell a lot of blades but he is "on the list" for the newest releases.

He has been a Benchmade, Spyderco, Microtech ... ect. dealer for 15+ years.

Last time I went he had well over 200 Limited, First, Pre-, Gold-Class, Autos .... you name it!

He kills me.

I walked out with the Bone Collector.

He hardly had any knives that were plain jane.

snapped the tip right off of my LE 940... oops

i can't justify $150 for a knick knack which is all a knife thats never used really is... lol. i was sad when it broke, yes, but bench made took care of me. its no longer serialed but damn is she sharp

so, it ruins the collector value.
but it wouldn't matter much,
since there is no sure way to guage any long term future market for them.
and no one knows what the future holds anyway.
maybe select and save the the pretty ones and cut the rest away.

The BenchMade guys said use them, their not special. They did say you might hang on to the preproduction blades though. Everyone agreed. the 1 thru 500 and limiteds ge used. The prepros goes in the safe.

I have user and collector knives. If I buy a knife to use, it gets used, serial numbered or not. Currently only have one serial numbered knife in my rotation, my FK PXL.

Serial numbers and limited editions don't always mean untouchable values. Got a few I've used.

Sure I use them. All my knives are fair game for using, although obviously some get used harder than others.

I hate first production so I won't buy them, but if the knife just happens to be a LE like my old Blue Bump, hell yeah I'll use them. I have beaters for beater-stuff, but opening boxes and so on, sure.
