Ok enough Dancing Around the Issue!

You might want to give Allen Blade a call and see when he's going to be out from under his back-log. Allen does some awesome work and doesn't charge a small fortune for it. The Jones brothers from Danville, VA do some mighty fine work, too. They do folders as well as fixed and will build a true custom or one of their stock patterns. I'd also like to put in a vote for Jerry Hossom. Any version of his Millenium Fighter would make a fine addition to the Vanguard series. This could go on forever, but I better stop.

OK LES, i wont beat around the bush either, if "uknown" but "excellent" makers is what your after, then you need to contact Pual Lebetard.

He makes about anything you could imagine at GREAT prices. He makes an 8" fighter that is about my favorite stock removal combat/fighter etc... His sheath work is as good as ANY sheath maker out there. Turn around is very reasonable etc...

And YES he work with alot of D2, so that should suite you as well

And i forgot to mention he does a pretty cool subhilt.

Sava Damlovac and John Fitch. If you have not heard of Sava, wait for it, it will come cause he knows how to build 'em

I also think highly of Matt L.'s work and knifemaking opinions. He shoots straight.

Could not agree more about Roger's work and now I have to check out Mr. Lebetard's work.
(thanks Matt!)

Les,
Jerry Hossum is also a guy I would strongly consider. I also like Neil Blackwood's work Max's work and Bob Doggett's stuff. Mike Alexander and Don Cowles also come to mind.
I hope to own knives from each of these guys in the near future.

Les,
You already have one of my favorites. Walter Brend makes the best. Bar None.
A couple I would recommend:
Bruce Evans
Edmund Davidson

The largest custom knife I own is a 12" tanto by Phill Hartsfield. I like it becasue of the sharpness and edge holding ability. I also like it because of it's utilitarian pseudo-modern-Japanese-styling. It is a stout knife that I am not afraid to use hard. I also have a smaller 7" verson and a 5" version.

My lastest piece is a Japanese-style blade my ABS Mastersmith Howard Clark. The mounts were fashioned by Don Polzien and it is a really beautiful piece. I like the piece because of the workmanship that Mr. Polzien put into the fittings and the near-perfection in the crafting of the blade shaping and temperline. Though more of an art piece, I would only hesitate in using it due to possible marring of the fittings, but the blade is made to be used.
