Just finished up this blade today, its just over 10" long x 2-1/2" wide, with a bit of recurve. You cant see in the pic but there is a "forged" in small guard.

Im torn on what to do for the handle, feel free to give your input!

Seeing as you already have a guard why not some nice wood scales, something to complement the hamon.

How did you get the hamon to show so white? What polish are you using?

Beautiful blade profile. I'd think that even with a hunk of 2x4 as a handle this would look nice. :)

howzabout a full straight on profile shot? Hard to tell what's goin on with your handle from these pics

hi Lorien, will have to get a shot tommorow, and by then it will be done, or at least I will have the handles epoxied on. I should have took a few more full on photos, but didnt even anticipate posting these. It basically has a forged in small gourd, full tang with plenty of drop to it, and a very slight exposed "V" window tapper!

I was basically torn between black micarta or some nice Walnut, Cocobola etc.

Walnut!!!! Something with as much figure as the hamon! Jeezus, Mary, and Joseph, the hamon! What a beauty.

I was looking through my Ebony and Blackwood and dont have any "tall" enough, need a 3" piece on this one. I do have some dark Ziricote though.

HAve lately been getting I think its a good look once its bead blasted and dies not take away from the Hamon

ive bead blasted a bunch of them with the hamon, and while it shows quite good you dont get the details of the activity. the blade finish you see is how this one is going to be, just asking about the handle etc.

Please don't put boring old micarta on a blade that handsome. It deserves some nice wood.

I'm with him. just my .02 cents, but i really think that deserves something along the lines of that ebony. could you put up shots of that ziricote that you have?

here is just a photo i had on hand, this obviously is "rough cut" wood and dont really show the grain well.
Cocobola, Camiteo, Ziricote, and some standard grade Walnut

I'd go for micarta personally. Wouldn't want to feel limited in being able to carry or use it because of worrying about damaging the handle material, and this blade screams 'use me'! Steel speaks for itself. This is a knife I'd like in the quiver, super nice Matt.

Beautiful blade ,wow!!I would use a darker wood that the grain doesn't jump out at you too much, otherwise it might look too"busy" with the nice strong hamon you have I would kind of want that to be the focus-thanks

Dude I think some black palm would be great. Its a little subdued until you get it in the light just right and it jumps out at ya! Mark usually has it in stock.

i will figure it out today and get something on it, Lorien, this one can ship to Canada you know!

oops! In my pm I assumed some dimensions, but I see them in you post here. Intriguing, to say the least.
