OK, here's a TOUGHIE! Ritter Grip vs. Manix...

The Manix family is as strong and solid and anything I've seen in a folder in 50 years of looking. My mini-Manix is the one that goes to the woods with me when we're hiking or camping. I don't mind the weight because I wear it on my belt. It goes well with the Caly 3 in my pocket.

I've been pairing my full sized Manix with my UKPK myself lately in a similar fashion. The UKPK goes on the RF pocket clipped where it takes up little space so my pocket is still usable and the clip isn't very noticable. Light, ergonomic and excellent control for most cutting tasks. Then the Manix IWB behind my right hip. Large, strong and extremely secure in the grip, good for when doing heavy cutting, working with wet hands, you need more blade length or just want that extra inertia behind the cut.

I do like the Manix better with a boye cut-out though. I put one on mine using a round sharpening rod and it makes the lock release a bit easier to find, so unlocking the knife is more fluid and natural for me. I'd recommend it if you've unlocked the knife in a weird grip before or use it with gloves a lot.

Interesting comment about the gloves. I don't wear 'em down here in GA, but back home in WV they're a necessity during outdoor activities in winter.

I've never cared one way or the other about the Boye dent. If it's there, I use it to get my position, if it's not, I can usually manage anyway. But that's with bare hands. I can imagine that wearing gloves would make it more difficult to find the lockbar on a midlock knife like the Manix and the dent would help.
