I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Whatever you do, be sure to load for bear. :p

You might also think about a ruger blackhawk to. It would go well with your marlin and with a tiny bit of work can be extremely smooth and accurate.

Congrats on the Glock and good luck on your hunt for a 686. You have good taste in firearms.

Hardly ever leave home without the G26 (hard to believe) ain't it. Second favorite Glock? The 19! S&W wheel guns are THE revolver of choice in my house. And this is from a former FFL holder.

I've got 4 large frame revolvers: a 4" nickel colt Python my dad bought me for my 16th birthday, and three 686s, a 2 1/2 a 4" and a 6" Love my set of smiths, but nothing beat my colt Python. got to take some pics one day.

I went with the GP100. Cheaper even with a trigger job. And I like the more sculpted/rounded area in back of the cylinder on the Ruger instead of the flat pierce of metal on the S&W.

UPDATE:

Well, thanks again fellers for the help and advice!

Just purchased a nice pre-lock 686 plus... really happy with the score as I wanted a pre-lock, but also really wanted a 7 shot - didnt even know they made a 7 shot pre-lock until I found this puppy. Its not pre-MIM, but beggars cant be choosers and the price was just too too nice - after shipping and FFL fee it will still come out to be less than a new GP100...

Should have it by Monday :)

Now its time to find a quality holster for camping/hiking...

Thanks again!

Way to go! What's the barrel length on that 686?

Even though I love my 4" 586, I still find myself lusting over a GP 100 3" SS. I don't know if it's the grip, the balance, or the fixed sights, or the looks. Maybe all the above.
Time and money are all I need.

That milt sparks with the hammer shroud is great!

I carry my old 6 inch barrel model 66 smith in an old Bianchi holster that came with it (inhereted the gun from my maternal grandfather!).

I got all excited seeing a Busse and pre lock S&Ws, then I saw the Glocks and the moment was ruined :p ;)

Nice .357

Take it from a true gun nut, turned knife nut of recent, anybody's opinion other than your own is
Pointless. You have to handle, carry, and shoot the gun to know if it's right for you. Speculating with imagination an others experiences will not matter when putting lead out in a hurry...what
Works is what works. I've owned both...I'm partial to ruger... My buddy likes s&w...we shoot
About the same ( unless I've been drankin')... This tells you nill
That said...Colt Cobra hands down!
