Ok, how many goats were sacrificed?

All this talk of the OD-1 has got me jonesin pretty bad for a new blade. I think I might just have to pick one up this evening.

I've been wanting a Kershaw for a while. However, when I heard they were upgrading their steel, and some new models (very enticing models indeed!) were coming to wally world, I decided to wait a couple weeks. Sure am glad I did. I've always been impressed with Kershaw's knives...and I wanted a Leek pretty bad, but all the ones at Wal-Mart are partially serrated, and the knives that aren't are usually recurved. I will say that out of all the serrations out there, Kershaw's are definitely the best, and the recurve cuts like a mad man. However, I prefer plain edge, non-recurve blades simply for ease of sharpening. The OD-1 is exactly what I was looking for. This is a lot of knife for only $40...made in the US no less. The Zing felt very nice as well, as did the Skyline...probably will be picking those up as funds allow. As much as I love my Delica and Mini-Grip, they are on vacation for a little while.

Don't get me wrong, both the Delica and miniGrip are great knives, but I am really leaning towards the OD-1 as my favorite "economical" EDC. For the money, it is really hard to beat, you just get so much.

In addition, this is my first blade in the new steel. It is really holding up, easy to sharpen and takes a great edge :)
