First the bad news

We do not have enough magazine subscribers to make the magazine a viable option to help support the site. Currently we only have about 150 subscribers and that is simply not enough to justify running it. Too many man hours and not enough men

Now the good news....
smile.gif

  • We will not be shutting the magazine down.
  • The Magazine will now be FREE to ALL BFC Members and lurkers too!
  • You can keep the FREE gifts I sent out! (Ain't I sweet
    smile.gif
    )
  • All who paid for their subscriptions get a FULL refund!
  • Or you can use the $29.95 as credit towards my HUGE sale in the Knife Exchange!
  • Or you can of course donate to the cause

So visit the new "To The Point" on-line magazine and take a look! www.bladeforums.com/magazine/index.shtml

We will rebuild the pages soon, so just disregard any of the text that tells you to subscribe.

Here is what we will do.
The magazine will switch to a open style format rather than a monthly issue. This will allow Spark and Myself the time we now need to devote to maintaining this site and building some great new features here. We had no idea how much time is involved in building a monthly issue. But that is not to say that we will not have monthly features and articles in the magazine. We will just not have that incredible pressure you feel when you are under a deadline!

1) So if you subscribed and want a refund simply email us with your name to: iwantmymoney@bladeforums.com

2) Or if you want credit towards any purchase from BFC or my sale in the knife exchange just give us a call at 1-800-969-7771 when you are ready to order.
See the following thread for the sale items: www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/001202.html
If you have already ordered something from the sale then do step one above.

3) If you want to donate the funds, then simply email us a note to: keepmymoney@bladeforums.com

To all of those who subscribed, I want to thank you for the support you showed us.

I have now implemented a course and direction to take BladeForums, and to make us a more viable entity.

Stay tuned to many new features here that will surely make everyone happy

Sorry to hear that Mr. Turber. I was going to subscribe once I moved (EAS USMC) back to TN. Oh well all the better!

Dang, sorry to hear that this money making project went down the drain, but you can keep my $30, you've worked a lot harder for it than I did.

Sincerely,
Adam

OK. this is not in any way a flame on anybody. That said, I cannot believe that out of 4000 plus subscribers on this forum, who professto spend hundredsif not thousands of dollars on knives that they will never use.will not spend $2.50 a month to support a site that they use every day. Please consider my subscribtion a donation. Thank you. Bill Boyd

I'm shocked that only 150 of us signed up! I'm sure more than 150 people called in to Mikes big sale and ordered more than $30 worth of stuff. I hope Mike finds a good way to support BFC because we all use it, and he shouldn't bear the burden alone. Keep my money, I've saved way more than $30 from your sale alone.

Pats on the back to those who could subscribe - maybe the holiday spending was a deterrent to many.

Keep my money, Email already on the way.

Mike, Spark, Lori and gang - thanks for all the good effort!

IMHO, you should have given it a few months. My guess is that a lot of people were waiting to see just what this magazine would be.

I would also have suggested selling "single issues." If a person hears about a print magazine that sounds interesting, they often go to a book store and buy a single issue often for three times what that issue would have cost had they subscribed.

I am real sorry to hear about that I never did subscribe in the first place partly because I was real press for money but I still cant believe what you must be feeling I know I would be pissed

Thank all of you guys! You never cease to amaze me

Gollnick,
I don't have months to wait to see if something will work. I demand immediate results on a project or I dump it. However this has made me think about some old rules of marketing I have been ignoring for over a year. BladeForums has always been a pet project of mine "so to speak".

However, over the last year I have seen just how much it means to each of you. I have had my success and I always felt that BladeForums was my way of giving back. Now that BFC is huge it not only requires a lot more money to run, but it requires a lot more time. So I must now look at ways to insure that BFC stays on-line.

I have a plan and you all will see it soon enough. BladeForums is here to stay. Like the guy says in those Mens Warehouse store ads.

I GURANTEE IT!

It is too bad that more people did not subscribe. I glad I contributed because I had never bought anything from the store. I'm just disappointed that I never got my free skinning knife.

:O Apparently I was blind or something but I missed it. And I thought I was here often enough. Maybe the subscription idea is worth retrying .....

I think you've made the right decision. Life is too short to be living "on deadline"--been there, done that, more than once. To affirm that I feel what you're doing with the forum is very valuable I just went to the Bladeforums store and made a credit card donation. Any other members who feel afflicted with guilt for not subscribing may conveniently relieve their consciences over at the store. I feel much better now.

Mike!

Sorry how things truned out for you, but does have a happy ending for some.

You worked too hard, and put in too much time to make this work, so I feel as others, and say also to keep mine for a donation to help keep these great forums going.I have helped in buying other items to support the forums, and I feel the least I can do is add another donation for the cause.

You and the rest of the troops have done a great job, so keep it up as long as possible.

I am going to the proper location to let you know to keep my dues as a donation to the cause.

Larry

Please keep mine. Will confirm by Email. This forum has been worth many times that in my enjoyment. My sincere thanks to you all.

Please keep my subscription fee. It’s a small price to pay for all of the pleasure I’ve gotten out of these forums, not to mention all the money I’ve saved on the great deals I’ve found on this site. Of course, this site has also cost me a lot of money indirectly by fueling my addiction to sharp, pointy things
smile.gif
. I’ll confirm by e-mail as well…

Jim

Mike, Spark,

I'll join the crowd and say keep the money, apply it towards maintaining and improving BFC.
