My Dad was a Boy Scout in the 1950'S, My Grandfather kept his boy Scout Knife, I saw it when I was a kid, it was large from what I remember, had a Spoon, Fork, Saw Main PE blade sorry I can't remeber what else it had, I do remember it had brown slabs on it! can anyone tell me who made this knife and do you have a pic of it.

Thanks,
RickJ

The one I am talking about is alittle bigger and had a Saw Blade, I remember the Saw blade and I remember it being pretty big, I think it had at least a 4inch blade on it. same slabe material thow so it may have been made by the same maker.

the camilus Boy Scout Woodsman Double Lockback is the closest thing that i could find (but still not the same). still a cool looking knife.

Rick,

The knife in my pic is about that size, its big. The one I have was made in Japan, carbon steel, and is a pretty decent knife IMHO...

If this is not it, search Boy Scout knife on ebay, I bet you find it....

The case looks like the one my father had.

I saw the same knife but because it was made in Japan, I did not think the Boy Scouts in 1950S would use it!

Rick - Yup, made in Japan... You can pick these up ebay for about $10, well worth it.

Sometimes called the "Japanese Army Knife" or "Japanese Swiss Army Knife." Often purchased by Boy Scouts in late 1950's - early 1960's. Quality varied from OK to gdawful (as in made of annealed steel). Rumored to be made of recycled steel beer cans.

Typical behavior pattern: Buy it, then try to hold down meat with fork while cutting with knife. Consign to junk box.

Often sold on ePrey as "Boy Scout Knife."

Ive had this one for forty some odd years. Mad in Japan. It looks to be a cheaper model than the one mneedham has.

Stop! Now you're making me want gdawful, $10, eprey, recycled beer can, hobo knives, just so I can say I have one. You're killing me. Can it get any lower? :)

Do it! I gotta say, both my son and I have had ours for a while and I've got no complaints.. Mine takes and holds a decent edge, good snap and no wobble. They are heavy and the scissors aren't as good as an SAKs, but it has good spoon and fork which is pretty handy. One of things that I have noticed is that considering that these blades are 50 years old, and most of them were probably used pretty well, there are a lot that seem to be in circulation and are still in good shape... I've wasted $10 on much worse, and less handy, blades over the years:D...

Hehe, I was actually thinking how handy these would be at work... forks have a nasty habit of getting 'disappeared' from the kitchen :D
