Ok, I REALLY want a Bk9, but...

A Buck Hoodlum?! Lol that's pretty...interesting..lol.

Yep... The design is solid but the early models had issues with the notch but since then it has been a solid preformer. It chops well for it's weight and edge retention is great and I just love 5160 steel... That stuff bends like no ones business and comes back true..... Granted it ain't a 9!

I heard so many poor horror stories from those lol.
Glad they fixed it.

The BK9 is a lot more than a typical large chopping knife. It chops better than most while also being fairly well suited for smaller work. It might just be the best 9" bladed knife on the market.

Close, but actually the best 9" bladed knife on the market is the BK-4. :D

I have used my hoodlum hard and no issues... But still I like to collect knives that interest me and this was one as it was designed by the late Ron Hood... A great woodsman. He new his stuff and he will be missed.... Granted my preferred big blades are still beckers .. The 9 & 4 are my goto blades... Mr Becker knows a few things as well. Handle design is the best bar none and kabars 1095cv is just plain sick... Outstanding edge retention very good rust resistance even when striped and they chop like a mofo... The 9 is straight forward and the 4 takes some practise but kicks some serious butt as well!

Thanks to Mr Becker and Mr hood for great designs.... On a side note I am looking forward to the new kukri from becker/kabar and fingers crossed that the patrol machete makes a come back as well

Same, I normally do not like Kukris however I might give it a try.
Never like the blade shape and feel like it would be a pain in the rear to sharpen.

I use a worksharp so it is not too bad.... Puts a nice edge on the blades and the edge seems to last longer by a fair margin

No, never a PITA to sharpen. :D Just another one of those learning experiences  that put hair on your chest and a swagger in your step. :D:D

I'd say get the 9 and then test the two side by side. Take some pics and post your findings here. Then, keep whichever one works best for you.... Which will be the 9... :D

It's simple really; buy a 9 (cause how could you not?) when you bring it home, the Condor will either run away, or hide in fear. Problem solved.

I personally still love my 110 & 119 buck's. but nothing buck has ever made, is worth more than 150 dollars. I'm fairly sure I would be better off with a Becker. Or give buck a design that might at least compeat.
