OK....I think I'm done with Kershaw now

Oops...I ment to start a new thread with a different subject. (It must be Friday.:D.:D.).

Everyone drops the ball once in a while - this appears to be a drop in the cowpie situation. K'shaw has made it clear they'll work with you on this to make it right..Personally - I admit that every time I try something else - I keep coming back to the speed-safe - not so much for the first word -but because this design safetly locks the tool far more reliabily /consistentlythan I can. I also feel the hand/arm wave required to flip open some of their other knives is less than discrete. While someone has to be pretty close to see me open a speed-safe -they can see me waving a knife around from across the room with the "flippers". This isn't a case of legal rights or even moral rights - it's a case of wanting a usefull knife to use as a tool and not wanting to scare/upset the customers ( the folks who buy me gas, house and feed me).
Kershaw has a track record of makin it right - let 'em do it for you.

thats a bit of an exaggeration inmop, the flippers dont require that much energy to be opened. i can open my junkyard dog 2 without even flicking my wrist or moving my arm at all, i can get the blade to snap completely open with just my finger alone, just like i would with an AO kershaw. im sure not all flippers are as well made as the jyd2, but a good one can be opened easily with 1 finger.

Hey, Convert, thanks for giving Kershaw another chance. In my, as well as most others experience, Kershaw is not only one of the best knives, but one of the best companies to deal with. Truly, your experience with the Cyclone is an anomaly, as I was so confident with the Cyclone, that I gave one to my wife, who beats the living s**t out of it. That Cyclone not only takes it, but asks for more. I have no doubt that your difficulty will be resolved to your complete satisfaction.

I'd have to agree, I doubt that anyone could tell if I am flipping a manual or a Speedsafe. I can open all my manual flippers in pretty much any position without any motion other than my index finger.

In regards to the perceptions that things are common issues, I'd ask people to try to remember the sort of volume that Kershaw deals in for their regular catalogued items, we're not talking about a few hundred. Also this forum is one of the few places you can publically ask about these sort of issues, so there would be an unusual concentration of incidences. Even so, in light of the numbers produced I'd hazard the guess that the posts here are still statistically insignificant.

I have to say that what is significant, is that Kershaw does take each incidence seriously. :)

Well guys, I managed to fix my cyclone with the help of another fourm member (it wasn't replaced). I'm going to start a new thread with the details, but I didn't want to leave my rant thread unfinished, for the benefit of other people who are considering buying the Cyclone.

Conclusion:

When they work, they are SWEET! :D

ETA: Tim, sorry about the language infraction. It's been edited. And I apologize further for not attending to it earlier, I haven't been on the forums in a while.

glad to see you're satisfied!

my first and only warranty expereience was great ,kershaw will take care of you, remember we are all human and anything mechanical can and will break sometimes.

A couple days ago I received a Kershaw Groove from OregonEdge (Thanks, again!...), and I've really found it to be a hard folder to put down. It has no torsion bar, so it's not an AO, but it flips open VERY smoothly, and quickly. I'm actually starting to think that this Groove might edge-out the Cyclone as my favorite Kershaw folder...(The ZT 0200 is STILL my all-time favorite folder.).

My Groove is my favourite knife too. It's so much fun to flick open and closed because there is actually a bit of skill involved to get it to open all the way.

I've had mine now for a couple of months now, with no problems, and I'm one of those people that open and close my knife continuously while watching TV.

It is VERY comforting to find out I'm not the only person that does this!

Convert,

If you would like, send me an email with your shipping adress and I will send you a prepaid package to send the Cyclone back. I will either personally fix the problem with your knife, or replace it with different model of the same value. We apologize for the less than satisfactory service.

 I own a couple Kershaw's right now, but this post gaurantees I will own more in the future. I'm so impressed I'm tempted to order one right now :D

i had the same thing with three mini cyclones. i recently sent my last one back to them asking to swap it out for a different model. they did just that in a timely manner as well. i am thrilled about the customer service. and i ended up with a blackout. i like it. i have turned into a benchmade freak, but it fits in the pouch nicely along with my fixed blade bench. they have earned back my business through their customer service. and on a side note, i havent had any issues with the blackout.
