Ok. I Think There Needs To Be an Intervention.

Every time I get a knife, I say thats it. Last one.

Then I somehow end up going to the exchange or the auction site or a few other places and then I see it...... A great deal.
Haha.
I really don't need anymore knives. Seriously. I have enough. What makes us knife nuts want more knives?

Really? Whats your reasons? I mean I am buying seconds and sometimes thirds of the same knife. I have the whole Becker line except the BK3, BK1, and the RBK.
This really is an addiction that I need to get control of. haha :D But for real, I only buy seconds of something if it is cheap. And believe me, if you look keep an eye out you can find a lot of Becker models new in the box shipped for $50. And used is a whole other story.

I just need to say no to the deals.

If I like a knife and use it a lot, I tend to get a second one just in case my main one is lost, stolen, breaks, or so I can feel better about modding it, and sometimes so I can give to a family member.

I don't go out to eat anymore cause thats money I could have put towards a new knife. And a new knife lasts way longer than a dinner. Id rather rather just eat free deer meat from my kills.

Can't see spending money for a night at the movies, that could have been a new Becker necker. haha.

And new clothes? Who needs them? Ripped shorts and holes in T-shirts are fine with me, Id rather have a set of Micarta for one of my babies. haha

I am serious, I am gonna try and go 2 or 3 months with no new knife purchases. We shall see how it goes.

I am very curious as to how many of you have the same or similar problems?

And to be honest, this forum is the worst thing for knife addicts. This forum makes people buy more knives. We all check out each others new knives and see the awesome mods people do and it just gets us all fired up and wanting to try it out for ourselves.
We need a support group.

I wouldn't have known about almost any of the knife mods and must have Becker models if it wasn't for you guys.

I wouldn't have wanted to get them all if it wasn't for all of your pictures and ramblings about how this blade can do that and that blade can do this!

I thought there was something seriously wrong with me for wanting more than one new knife every year. Until I met all of you that is.

You guys have enabled me. Lol

And I thank each and everyone of you!

My life would not be the same today without all the knowledge I have gained from this Becker sub forum. However I would have a lot more cash in my pocket.:D

So I really just wanted to post some pictures of my new knife that arrived today, and It was then that I realized how bad this addiction is.

Here is my new baby that arrived today. Now I think I might attempt a de-ramping of my old BK12, number 186. Oh my how I love this blade.

So should I de-ramp? I am so worried that I might not like it? And maybe a large choil? Who knows.

Well I didn't intend to rant about this and that but I just got to thinking how addictive these blades are.

So I am going to focus on the knives I have and not buy anymore for a while.

And how do you guys deal with it? Honest? And do you let your wives or girlfriends know how many knives you buy or have? I know I don't! haha I'm so glad that the handles all look the same and blades are similar. I think my wife thinks I have just a couple. The trick is to only bring out 1 or 2 at a time. haha

So please guys, Don't post any more pictures of your new blades or show your awesome mods anymore, because I may just crack and have to order a knife or some new g10 black and blue scales. (man those things are sick looking)

I know I'm not the only person in this boat, so please respect our feelings and don't make us addicts want any more steel. HAHA

Thanks and Enjoy.

I would start spending money on gas to get out to the woods and use all those knives. Go dig, pry and split with those knives. Take all of the safe queens, dig a hole and throw the knives in it. Water it down some and come back in a couple days or a week or two. They will be good to go. Tell the wife or girlfriend you found them on the side of the road.

Hey Dex, wanna buy a BK7? :D

Deramp and large choil? Ohhhh yeahhh!
I try to take it easy on the knives every couple of months...
But then I just end up getting sheaths and stuff. :D

My wife just shakes her head...and buys new shoes.

I know how it is with those "good deals"...hard to pass up a bargain! LOL!

Technically if you mod one of the versions then you were not buying "the same" knife. If it would help you with your addiction then I would be willing to take all the multiples you have free of charge and store them properly. I'm here for you! As for the 12; I'm holding mine and thinking that if you de-ramp it then you would want a choil but if not then no choil. Not sure but you have two of them and if you don't like it then keep the OG and sell the other one.

I never get tired of seeing pics of that knife. It is by far my favorite of the large Beckers it just does everything right.

Jeez, NIB for $50. LIES :D!

Honestly though, I have the majority of the current production Beckers but really have no addiction to buying them. Do I want more? Well, uh...I'd like another BK-9 to grind into a giant BK-12, but that's just a thought. I like knowing that if I buy them they'll get some use rather than sitting there until something happens to the first one.

My wife and kids love to eat out on occassion, and go to the movies every so often.....so, yes, everytime this happens I think of the Becker I will not be able to get.

My finances are to the point where I actually considered selling my AR (which I proclaimed when I got it that I never would) just to support my Be-crack-er habit.

So, yes, everytime I see you guys with new steal (and especially if you got it for free somplace) I am truly jealous of you all.

Man, I still want one of those Doug Ritter/ Becker design's. Really cool looking knife.

Those are pretty sweet looking. What's with the Ritter/Beckers? Rowen makes them and they are a collab between Becker and Ritter?

Hi, my name is Spike (no last names needed here...) and I am a knife-a-holic too.....
I think most of us here are in the same boat as you.

Exactly right.
This is the only place that sells them, IIRC.

Here's a vid with Etahn Becker and Doug Ritter explaining the collaboration:

So I actually live kinda out in the wilderness on a few acres and am lucky enough to be able to use my knives all the time. I even get to hunt deer, squirrel and dove from my front porch. I feel blessed not to be in the city anymore. But I would like to go on a week long trip deep into some woods with just my knives to get some real one on one time with them! haha. And I don't think my wife would buy that story about finding all those knives, I think I'll just keep them hidden for now! :D

HaHa. You Sir are very funny. The last thing I need is a BK7. It is by far my least favorite Becker. However I did buy a second one last month LNIB roll stamped version for $50. So yea, if not for that I probably would have bitten that offer. haha.

And yea I am thinking the deramp with large choil. Haven't seen it done to many BK12's but I do like them on the BK7 for sure. Partly why I got the second Bk7 so I could experiment with deramping and large choiling before I did it to my BK12. Wanted to take precautions not to ruin the BK12 since it is my go to blade, along with the newly released BK10, its a tight race for first.

My thoughts exactly. I have modded most of my duplicates or have plans for major modification for sure.

I don't know you well enough to send you all my multiples for free. So you will have to pay for shipping. haha. Yea right, the knives in my collection are like kids to me!

I hear ya. You my friend are in denial of your addiction. Anyone with most or even half of the Becker line is an addict. It's ok. We are here for you and the first step is to admit you have a problem. When you are ready to admit that, we can help you on your road to recovery. :D

And I assure you they don't just sit there until something happens to the first one.

I like to fondle them at least once a week and then put them back in their box for safe keeping!!

Have you ordered your BK12 yet? If not, get to it cause you will certainly not regret it.
There are five knives I highly recommend to people looking to get Beckers: BK12, BK11, BK16, BK10, and BK9.

The BK12 just feels perfect. Something special about that blade, it was a great collaboration between two great people and built by Rowen. How can you go wrong with that?
You can't.

Do any of you have pics of your de-ramped and choiled BK12's?

steel addiction is tough to deal with. A wishlist is something that never ends and gets constantly moddified. Want advice? stay away from customs and knives from other countries. I've been in a Spanish knife bender for like a year and am finally starting to snap out of it.

Yes my friend, I have made it a point not to buy any customs. That seems like an addiction that I can not afford. I can barley afford my Becker and Ka-bar addiction. haha

Good luck to you snapping out of that one. Im glad it's not me. :D
